Jeez Louise. What does this guy have to do to get a game? 29 touches and 13 tackles? Exactly the type of player we need in our midfield. Could be another Tyson like deal. Get onto it Dees.

We've won the lotto if we lose Frawley and gain Mitchell.

Frawley isn't much of a footballer, Mitchell is in the mould of Dom Tyson - pure football.

Yeah he was dropped - for Kennedy, Bird, McGlynn...

He's going nowhere.

it would be ironic if Mitchell was in a similar boat to Kennedy at the hawks. Good but up against so many good mids that he gets squeezed iut

By the time his contract is up he'll be starting 22.

He can certainly find the footy. Just a question. Is he a little bit too one-paced? In a side crying out for players who can break the lines would you be giving up the kitchen sink for him?

He's certainly one-paced, but he can play footy.

If we were able to snare him and one of Brayshaw or Petracca in the draft, then our midfield quality is starting to shape up and we can start looking for some pace and outside run (which is easier to find later in the draft).

He's definitely frustrated up there - and this weekends omission will not help at all.

Pick 3 and a player for Mitchell and Malceski is the rumour.

Pick 3 and a player for Mitchell and Malceski is a steal IMO - Id be throwing all and sundry to make this happen.

You think so. Malceski could come in the PSD for nothing.

The swans will make a list decision. They have Mitchell struggling for a game. PLUS they get Heeney at pick 18 this year (touted as a top 3 - 5pick!!!!!!). PLUS next year they get Mills - academy and Dunkley - F/S both touted as potential tops 10 mids (Mills top 5). They will have an oversupply of mids.

So if they want to maximise value for Mitchell and recruit another type eg tall with a good pick the swans will need to do it this year.

So its a chance.

Pick 3 is to much so we will want a sweetner. Don't forget under normal circumstances he cannot get a game - a gun walks in straight away. Playing mid for the swans is a tad easier than the Dees!!!!!! And we do not want to talk him up to much!!

Pick 3 for T.Mitchell & Zac Jones?

IN: Pick2 (Petracca), T.Mitchell, Z. Jones

Out: Pick 3

They can then use Pick 3 on someone like Wright who I think Sydney are in need for a young ruckman who they could develop. We are also getting in Nathans younger brother to move back in Melbourne and provide Nathan a big reason to not walk out on the Dees next year come free agency as an insurance plan.

Mitchell would be a great get, but I certainly wouldn't give up pick 3 unless there is another player / pick thrown in. Perhaps they could send their first round pick back to us.

Unfortunately I don't think they would send their first round pick back. We must remember he was considered one of the top 3 prospects his draft, secondly we (the spectators) have a tendency to overrate the draft the the number of a pick.

In comparison I would take Mitchell over the likes of McCartin, Wright, Goddard, Brayshaw and Petracca (I am a big fan of Patracca though) anyday.

If we wanted to play hard ball I would want Mitchell for our top 3 pick (potential Frawley compensation #3) with the addition of Shane Biggs.

Mitchell is worth pick 3, I'd do that trade in a heart beat.

This is a serious football player. I would take Mitchell over Petracca every single day of the week.

Proven before potential and IMO Tom Mitchell is as proven as their is a young footballer.

Sorry, in saying that we must remember the salary cap dilemma Sydney have.

Mitchell is up there on a large sum of money ~ 400 - 500K a year and not getting a game.

Sydney could trade him out for a top 3 pick, have their new draftee on minimum wage and pocket themselves an extra 300K to play with, allowing us more room to play hard ball.

Both parties end up on top. :)

I have a problem giving them pick 3 for a player they don't even use. Greedy bastards, how's anyone supposed to catch up with them with all the quality they have already plus another pik 3? Give us another player as we'll however and I'd consider it.

The fall out from the Buddy deal is yet to happen at the Swans. Buddy is on less money this year and his payments go up from next season. With losing the COLA in coming years the Swans will have to lose more than Mitchell. Malceski is one who is a

already forced out and I would think Mitchell and Reid are others that are surplus to the Swans needs. Having said that, Goodes is one who will free up player payments.

IMO Roos is well aware of the situation and is ready to pounce. We may not get who I hope (Reid and Mitchell), but I see Roos and co circling like vultures. I would think Roos will go after Swans players as they come from an excellent culture and understand the defensive of the game that he wants.

I would also think that the Swans will be happy to bargain with Roos. His standing in The game is much higher in Syndey.

They'll be using that on Heeney so not gonna happen unless they can land another pick through a trade.

Good work. I think the financial side of things is the key reason Sydney would entertain a trade. It was mentioned on Triple M (Can't remember who said it on their afternoon program) about a month ago that Mitchell is actually on closer to $600k. Usually it takes circumstances out of the ordinary for a club to look to trade a good young player, but for the reasons ignition has mentioned, it does make sense here.

yeah lets give established powerhouse Sydney pick 3 for a player that spent all year dominating in the worst local league in Australia

thank Christ none of you work in the MFC recruiting department

Pick 20 at the most for Mitchell

that is insane, if true

1) it's not about Sydney it's about us

2) if some of us worked for MFC recruitment dept we'd have Talia, Darling & Wines on our list

I would take that deal in a heart beat, he is the match of players in the draft but has been developed in a quality system.

Don't care he is not a regular for Sydney, it's about us and he would certainly make us better.

And there you have it.

How can forum posters get it right over a highly paid expert, but that is basically what happened?

I feel sick every time I see Talia or Darling play.

Our problem is not 1-2 mistakes over the last 8 years or so it is 1-2 correct. I am not counting last year under the new recruiting team.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
