Maybe this Caroline Wilson article hasn't hit the main Fairfax websites yet.

Melbourne president's plan to turn the Demons into the Yankees

YES YES YES!!

We are Melbourne. Get the Reserve side back.

A presence in the city.....

And more flags!

How would we get Melbourne into our team song?

And interesting to hear about the Casey contract possibly in jeopardy.

I'd like a simplified version of the logo, something cleaner. Even just removing the text would help.

Win footy games.

That is what I would say to anyone from the club who is thinking along the same lines as Bartlett here.

That story just had a mish-mash of different image devices that don't do anything bar scratch the surface of our issues; no region to call our own, a dwindling and aging supporter base, and, up to two months ago, a terrible outlook for the foreseeable future.

The emblem is a distraction. If you are going to change it, do it, don't talk about how it signifies a change in anything other than the letterhead on press releases.

The song featuring the word 'Melbourne' is such an interesting aside but any money and time spent on this in our current predicament is bordering on insane. Let Demonland start a thread and work the word in - save you a few hundred thousand dollars...

The desire for a presence in Collins St brings a word to bear - why? Hardly anyone lives there. I won't discuss this any further as 'presence' could mean anything from where he wants the boardroom to where he wants a billboard...

The statement that Casey 'is not our heartland' is ironic, well it would be if it weren't so sad, we have no heartland - that's the point; we grew out of a stadium. We have shed so many supporters in the last 49 years. We have no 'heartland.' We are trying to build one out east. If we are not going to bother with Casey anymore the players will be happy they don't have to trek out there but they better have a bloody good business case.

Nothing in that impressed me.

Winning footy games will impress me, and it might impress a few others - if you really want to be the New York Yankees - you better win.

But RPFC we do have a region to call our own...we just dont take the bold step to do that...its a little place you may have heard of MELBOURNE

Bartletts very point ( it seemed to me ) is we need to lay claim to it, nit fiddle faddle in and around it. We unlike any other can be MELBOURNE...thats what he wants to do. Yes, lots of images devices ( as you have it ) but they would surely be part of the methodology to do this.

He wants to make us an irresistable and unavoidable part of this towns very fabric .....bully for him :)

Finally some big ideas. Sick of accepting we are one of the poor clubs, living on handouts. We should be aiming to be the biggest club in the land. I think most admins we've had have been content to mearly tread above water.

A bit confused but still have an open mind. What's in Collins Street that we need to tap into? The Melbourne Club. And Casey is too far away from The Gee I agree but are we making any friends out there? If not I agree let's realign with some VFL team closer to home. I don't believe you necessarily have to have a stand alone VFL side, can't see the difference myself. Hasn't held the Hawks back. But there is a tyranny of distance with the Casey alliance.

What a ridiculous article, I don't even know where to start. We want to be the Yankees do we? The same Yankees that have hundreds of thousands of fans? The same Yankees that are one of the biggest most iconic brands in the world? We may have the name Melbourne but there's at least 5 or 6 teams in this city with a bigger supporter base and a lot more cash than us. This is all pie in the sky stuff, we need to get back to reality, roll our sleeves up & win some respect & footy games.

i think the sleeves have been rolled up off field since last August.

It just hasn't been made public.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
