This umpiring... wow. I would want to kill myself right now if I was a Richmond supporter, I don't think Richmond have had one free kick all quarter? And North have had about 10?

LOL

That was so much fun.

It was cruel. You have been watching too much GoT.

The Roos let Tigers fans think they had a good team for a quarter and then the Roos quartered them.

It was sadistic.

junk time Jack Riewoldt

Worst Coleman medalist ever

Brett Deledio is an absolute frointrunning pea heart

Cotchin not far behind

As bad as its been in the last few years to follow the MFC I would never trade places with a Richmond supporter

'Watching too much GoT" may be the dumbest thing you've ever said on here, rp'.

Excellent metaphor though, North were Ramsay Snow letting theon off the cross in the first half.

You are very right! I took too much joy out of Richmond's misery. I'm still reading puntroadend's match day thread with a maniacal grin.

I'll be sick of Riewoldt wins the Coleman this year. He's a deadset [censored] and only scores at the end of games when the opposition has taken their foot off the pedal, and the outcome is set in stone.

Where's his leadership through the rest of the game? Pfft, and he wonders why they turfed him out of the leadership group.

Thank god they made finals last year. It was clearly an abberation and they all believed the hype! It set them back a few trade seasons with re-building their list because they actually thought it was quality.

I feel like it might be the most even flag race we've had in years. Sydney, Port Adelaide, Fremantle and Hawthorn (at full strength, anyway) are up there, and though Geelong's form is currently pretty poor, they're 8-3 and they've been written off before. Throw in Collingwood, who are also 7-3, plus the giant killer in North Melbourne (beaten Sydney in Sydney, Fremantle in Perth and Port Adelaide) and there's a legitimate 7-horse race for the flag.

Which of those clubs miss the top 4? Right now you'd say Geelong's not good enough, but if they finish 5th or 6th, who knows what they could do. Ditto North, who play their best against the best.

This comes up most years around this time. When the GF is run and won it's always seemed obvious who the premier would be. You can bet in the weeks leading up to finals that the media will again hype up teams outside the top 4 as legitimate chances, they aren't and never will be with the current finals system.

Sydney were the flavour of the month around this time last year until injuries hit home. That's going to be crucial as it always is. So whoever finishes top 4 (preferably top 2 with home advantaged interstate clubs involved) with a fit list will win it.

And what happens if 2, 3 or all 4 of them finish with a fit list?

We leapfrogged them in the blink of an eye

Quite amazing considering where each team sat after 22 rounds last year

Melbourne were in the football wilderness coming off a deplorable 2 win, 50% season and had no coach and no hope, while Richmond had gone a very impressive 15-7 and were warming up for an Elimination final

Now we have Roos, a very solid list and a team that competes hard each week

Meanwhile Richmond are up [censored] creek without a paddle, an ordinary coach and a list full of recycled rejects

It will make for a very good last two weeks of the finals like 2004, 2005 & 2010. Although 04 & 05 for us as Dees were not good finals going straight out in elimination finals

Actually on Sunday I was told (confidentially) that the Cats had pencilled in the 3 lossed before the season had started. The Swans loss was simply an abberation that happened. He conceded that Sydney do look like they are building a strong team. This 'insider' confidently predicted that the draw now opens up for the Cats and he figures on only 2 more losses between now and the end of the home and away. A Swans Cats grand final beckons apparently. No other team has the credentials I'm told. Hawks are done, Pies are not ready and Freo is too inconsistent away from Perth.

Apart from Season 2014 being just a 2 horse race the other key message for the football public is that Geelong will never bottom out, they will continue to be top 4 team for the foreseeable future as lifestyle (there's not much else to do down at sleepy hollow) and the plethora of outstanding local talent continues ad infinitum.

Anyway I thanked this Cats supporters for his pearls of wisdom and wondered what it would like to talk to a Dees support in 1963.....

lol... So your insider doesn't consider Port a chance?

Its a Port v Sydney grand final for me...

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
