Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Speaking of loyalty, what do you think $cully will be offered next contract?

$1.50 in loose change and a lifetime supply of KFC for his father.

If he's gone and told the club, I fully expect and hope Roos drops him.

Removing him from the leadership group would be a step in the right direction as well, given his "leadership" qualities.

I see where you're coming from but I think that would be too emotional a response. Dropping him from the leadership group would appear petty, to say the very least.

The aim must be to finish off the season as strong as possible. That means having Frawley in the side. I dare say he will want to end things at the club on a high note.

The implication of him informing the club he is moving on will only extend to planning. In terms of the current season, I don't think it should have much impact.

I'm actually at peace with this now, given it seems more and more likely that he is gawn. Provided we get the right compo, picks 4 & 5 or thereabouts will do very nicely in further setting up our young midfield. Quite likely we could get the best two midfielders in the draft with the top end being KPP heavy.

Its a fair bet to say it won't be equal to or more than the last one!

But what does he care. He's alsready made mroe than most players in history. He's like a graduate that got accepted to work at Goldman Sachs. Two years later he gets poached in a ridiculous salary. Whats he going to do? he's gonna leave. And who would blame him. And I suggest over 95% of people here would do the same.

And there are also posters who will happily slam a player if they postpone contract talks and tell all and sundry that we don't need them on our list to make themselves feel better when they inevitably leave.

I'm not saying I'm saying we keep him as I'm still on the fence, but it goes both ways on here. While he has his deficiencies we need to remember that, yes, he can play at an AA level and that decent tall backmen don't grow on trees. Just ask the Dogs, Saints and Blues for example.

To me it's the uncertainty that he has created that's the problem. The club needs unity at the moment, perhaps more than ever and having one of the leaders showing publicly that he's not certain of the direction of the club is undermining the recovery process we are going through.

We need all at the club pulling in the same direction and we certainly don't need this uncertainty, stay, go, whatever just do it.

I have no doubt about that, and I think as supporters we are well within our rights to be extremely disappointed in the way a leader of our club has handled his contract situation. But there are some who take that criticism way too far and they are too quick to forget what a terrific player Chip can be for the club.

Doubt Frawley will leave if he's only getting low-ball numbers from other clubs. He's leaving for a treasure chest.

And with no other free agents left that clubs will bother pursuing, the hoards of salary cap space multiple clubs (including at least $1mil at Hawthorn) have saved up need to go to someone.

The [censored] can go. He's clearly not man enough to tell the club he's out, this is just T$ 2.0. The moment Roos knows he's gone he'll be dropped from the squad anyway, so that'd compound the lie factor. Would be great timing if Hogan can make it in for the last 3-4 rounds.

The moment Roos suspected he was gone, he would have thought 'he's too good to drop, but how can I get him out of the way?'.

Ah, the forward line!

I have heard freo's offer was 2.6 million over 4 years, which would result in band 1 compensation, I think the AFL will bend over backwards to give us the high pick as we are still in the early stages of a revival, the did the same with Col last year, we should not have gotten band 2 for him.

Yes, we should have. He finished top 5 in the Bluey and Freo are paying him between 350-400 apparently.

Roos must have been pleasantly surprised that the team started playing much better once he was moved forward.

Roos would also have confused himself by playing Frawley to intentionally make him play worse and therefore reducing his value as a free agent which would directly influence the amount of compensation the club he coaches gets. You know, because it makes no sense.

I seem to remember him marking and kicking goals against GWS in his first game forward, then playing super well alongside Dawes to get the first win against Carlton.

People certainly overlooking that he played pretty well up forward.

I wonder if he'll be forward or back this week. I think he'll be back but not sure he'll get the match up on Pav.

He certainly was, as we finally had a target in our half of the ground to who could lead, take a mark and kick a few goals.

We have a hole up forward that will be filled by Hogan and we will have a hole down back that needs to be filled when Frawley leaves.

Made sense to give Dunn a crack at FB and put Frawley at FF to compensate.

Not sure that is right. I think mates and club culture play a big part. Plenty have rejected dollars for loyalty. Reiwald would be a good example.

I think it's more about what players are 'advised' to do these days. I'm sure club loyalty is often there, but an agent comes in and advises on a business decision. That's what it is and footy careers are short, so eventually the business wins over the heart/loyalty.

Goes back to what jnrmac said. I love my employer, but if our biggest competitor offered me an extra $30-$40k for example, I'd be out the door before they'd hung up the phone.

that may be true but many an employee is motivated by factors other than cash, e.g ego, work conditions and prospects for future growth

IMO Frawley is gone.

What gets my goat is all his bs excuses for not signing, not the fact that he wants to leave.

He should have just said "I am not commenting about my contract".

Good luck at your next club but remember the grass is not always greener especially now with Roos & co in charge.

I love a good conspiracy theory but this one just makes no sense.

Apart from your point of possibly reducing his value I suggest that posters go back to the beginning of the season and look at who Roos had available to play forward.

He basically only had three choices of who he could swing there (remembering that Fitzy, Pedo who was coming off horrific form last year , watts who Roos was trying to take the pressure off by getting him into the midfield and Howe were already selected there.)

Basically left Dunn who finally had started to show consistent form as a defender or Tommy Mac who was just developing.

the obvious choice was Frawley.

To add further - last week with Tommy mac out he had the option of Pedo going back but opted for Frawley - how does that fit in with the idea of getting a backline used to playing without him ?

Anyone out there old enough to remember the 'coodabeen's?

Which was the guy who always spoke with a sinus problem, the one who had the rumours? IE '.....speaking to a guy the other day who was walking past a bus stop and he heard this guy talking.....'. blah blah blah.

What I'm trying to say, all these rumours about Frawley, how accurate are they? Does any Dlander have real evidence that he is going?

The thread is going 'round in circles.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
