  1. Cant' help it, it has all been said before but when I read all the posts about this guy, well, it just destroys my faith in human nature. Going back a little, he did very well with Brisbane. For 'family reasons' was heading back to the west, the MFC offers him big bucks, he jumps at it, OK gets a soft tissue injury, takes time to sort out, comes down with depression, recovers, is getting offered more big bucks to play with a more successful club and will no doubt take an offer. How many people have we all known, friends, family that have not had their battles to fight, mental, physical etc? He is an unworthy person, no more no less, it just sickens me. Apologies for the rant, whatever
  2. Sorry, I don't quite understand your post ... Sheahan just said on twitter that "Goodwin to Crows is a done deal?" Is that a question or statement?
  3. Don't understand all this 'he has to get used to the game plan etc.' For goodness sake, these guys have playing footy since they were in nappies, they should have a pretty good idea how to man up, intercept a pass, catch the blinking pill, handball, kick. It is hardly rocket science. I am not having a go at Garland either, the only guy who seems to 'get it' week in week out is N. Jones
  4. Also...... I am fu%~^%~+^%~+^%~ing sick of losing...........
  5. Live in the UK, woke up, eventually worked up the courage to look up the scores on AFL.com.au Another loss, not a surprise, shut down computer, had some brekky, went outside, a glorious day, managed to stop thinking about the team for a few hours....... Great
  6. Height/weight of Barry Bourke? I had always thought of him as a sort of decoy FF, but reading these posts it seems as though he was too good to be called a decoy!
  7. No one has mentioned when van Gaal comes out of contract with Man U. There would be a real manager...........
  8. Funny, in the 'good old days' (20-30 years ago) and not necessarily the dees good days (did we have any?) a thrashing was a team winning by 50-60 points. One had a pretty good idea who was going to beat who, which games would be close and which teams would win well with few exceptions. Now it seems more difficult to predict. Brisbane donkey walloping Gold Coast, STK easily winning a couple of weeks ago, it seems more unpredictable to me. How can shite sides beat good sides when there is no indication of that happening prior to the game? Can the loss of just one player such as G. Ablett make such a difference? Can some of the 'more mature' demonlanders recall games where a team would fall apart after losing one player? Regards.
  9. Why is it so........ I believe professor Julias Sumner Miller said this on his interesting programme. My why is it so: Why is it that St Kilda who sit on the bottom of the ladder are able to slaughter a so called top 4 side so easily..... They (the saints) supposedly have a shite list, nothing to play for, maybe would like to stay on the bottom of the ladder for a PP, whatever but come out and destroy Freo. Come to think of it, when was the last time our team destroyed anyone? Was it the finals 1987? Yes, we made a fantastic come back in one game in recent times, kicked 12 goals in a quarter but still won by just a few points.......... Enlighten me please.
  10. MN, I am no doubt missing something here, however what concrete things have actually happened in the last few weeks even months to tell us for sure that "It's getting worse and worse for the bombers". Please enlighten me, Regards
  11. Ah, JB, I didn't watch the game, bit difficult here to watch a game here in England when it is not broadcast though. Based on your 3 word all is not lost then? ..... A little humour, we need it......
  12. Anyone out there old enough to remember the 'coodabeen's? Which was the guy who always spoke with a sinus problem, the one who had the rumours? IE '.....speaking to a guy the other day who was walking past a bus stop and he heard this guy talking.....'. blah blah blah. What I'm trying to say, all these rumours about Frawley, how accurate are they? Does any Dlander have real evidence that he is going? The thread is going 'round in circles.
  13. Not too difficult to work out why you hate North, KDA! Something like they beat (sometimes slaughter) us every time we play....... I want the dees to win as well but appreciate good teams playing good football.
  14. Oh no, you mean that Dolly Parton has a plastic surgeon? That has just wrecked my whole day, IF it is true. Seriously though, some of us demonlanders seem to take great glee from this situation. This is not a fun situation for anyone who likes watching AFL or who is associated with the game in whatever role. I agree with one of the posts however, it would be great to beat another team fair and square, not one decimated by injuries, banned players etc.
  15. Top guy, forget football for a minute, just a good man.
  16. Reading the topic titled 'I got married the day ......' Reminded me of those dark days in the 1970's and most of the 1980's. I used to take my little son to most home games at the G, as I recall, he would spend most of the time playing with his toy cars on the mostly empty bench seats or gathering empty soft drink cans in the close vicinity. At the end of the game he would ask "how did the demons go dad?" And I would reply "they did well mate". I knew that was learning how to count numbers when the same question was asked by him after a particular game when we got done. His reply to my "they did we'll mate" was "dad, then why does the other team have more numbers next to their name on the scoreboard than the demons?" Sad but very true ... Anyone have similar stories?
  17. I too was there with my 10 year old son, he was inconsolable, cried all the way home and shut himself in his bedroom. Was in the pocket when Eishold took the mark close to goal in the pocket, I felt he didn't want it... I didn't cry but probably consumed numerous glasses of whatever afterwards..........
  18. Only SEVEN bad years?? More to the point, how many GOOD years have we had since circa 1964? Wish I wasn't so old that I can recall (most of) them ! Let's hope 2014 starts an upward trend............
  19. She to him: you got no balls so don't bother trying to scratch them........
  20. Look who I found moonlighting as a NYPD officer in 'Person of Interest'.
  21. To all the contributors .. One of the great threads I have read on demon land guys and girls!! Some really great stories, well done to you all, it really makes me appreciate and understand those dees players, in fact all AFL players, what they have had to endure to get to the top what with injuries etc. etc. Again, thanks to you all. IHS
  22. No, I am very buoyed by what I am observing happening these last couple of weeks. We are employing far more sophisticated tactics than previously, and I am sure we will land so very tasty morsels before this is over. We just need to allow our negotiating team to go through the process. Really good deals take a long time to complete, and are often done at the "11th hour". D2014, I am humble in your presence. With your obvious superior negotiating skills both within Australia and overseas, would you be kind enough to explain what exactly our ' far more sophisticated tactics' are? I presume you are privy to the workings of the dees negotiating team, maybe you are one of the team? I sincerely hope that you are quite correct and that we do end up with 'some tasty morsels' as you put it.
  23. Are there any other demonlanders out there who are concerned that what with 50,000 players out there (slight exaggeration) going left, right and centre from one club to another and the dees HAVE DONE NOTHING. They are like an inert gas!
  24. Hello all, Over the last few weeks and months I have been reading a lot of posts on demon land about our current and former CEO's and president. Posters have been detailing their thoughts on who should be the next president, from Greg Wells to JK to the Ox etc. etc. Is there anyone who can actually define for me the actual role of a president (in the AFL context), what do they actually do, IE try to get sponsorship etc. Also what does the CEO actually do? It seems to me that it is vitally important to get a president and CEO that because of their business backgrounds, contacts or whatever it takes to fit the actual position. Is it important that they are ex footballers or is that not a prerequisite ? Sorry if these questions have obvious answers, it is not clear to me however. Regards
