How do we beat the Pies?

McDonald - Cloke

Dunn - White

Garland - Elliot

Howe - Goldsack

Jetta - Fasolo (most dangerous small)

N Jones - Pendels

Cross - Beams

Tyson - Macaffer (I think this is what Bucks will do)

Grimes - Young (Young is playing the distributer role, Grimes to play defensive forward)

Dawes - Frost

Pederson - Keefe

Frawley - ?

I think we have the tools in the back half to cover them.

The midfield battle will be fascinating and will be where the game is won and lost.

We may be able to stretch them forward of centre.

Bail i reckon will play as a defensive forward on Young, i reckon we will look to kick it to Pedo or Watts wherever possible going inside 50 as Frost and Keefe will take Chip and Dawes imo leaving the other two potentially outsized

i certainly think we have all the tools to beat them, will be very interesting

I'll leave it to Roosy and our selected 22 to continue on their established path of continuous improvement, but I'll also assume that the question posed in the header refers to the collective 'we'. If 'we' all get along to the 'G' on Monday arvo, and match the noise made by the 'filth' supporters, I reckon we can help lift our boys over the line. I'll be going home hoarse, but be saving just enough during the game to belt out a few healthy renditions of the Grand Old Flag after the siren.

very simple answer - kick a higher score !

Beat me to it. Having said that, I think we are in with a real chance on Monday. If the boys can build on recent performances and not be over-awed by the crowd and the Collingwood "names", we'll match them up pretty well. I think it might come down to belief in the game plan and in each other. We seem to have done a fair bit to bring that to the fore this year, so I'm looking to a hard fought contest over the four quarters with us running out 9 point winners!

last 4 weeks our average score is 80..

Collingwood's season average is 91...

furthermore, extracting the WC loss shows our season average points against is 81

essentially what I'm saying is that our percentage on recent form is close to even (100%) and the Pies are only a goal or so above average in terms of their scoring power

those numbers suggest a very tight one

can we kick around 13 goals? Dawes is in for a huge, huge day

I like the fact in the interview he said "I owe it to the team for getting suspended" here's hoping hes in career form! we'll need a few to stand up! i am tipping us to win

Who's on Swannie? Can we get Simon Godfrey back? Edited by Jumping Jack Clennett

I'm not entirely sure of the alternative, but if Dunn goes to Cloke, we're screwed.

I would prefer having frawley on him, but he is now firmly in the forward structure for the time being. dunn is the our best one on one defender and having garland coming third man up. Roos seems to be having either grimes or vince across half back to help out. Guess we'll find out match ups on monday

It's not really about matchups, it's more about pressure and getting numbers around and to the contest. The matchups will sort themselves out

IMO, it's certainly about both. Matchups don't take care of themselves. Our FD needs to identify suitable matchups and back up plans. If they do that and our blokes don't bring the Richmond/Adelaide intensity, then we won't get anywhere.

Think they'll isolate Rivers in the square with Cloke.......... oh, wait......

It doesn't really matter who you play on Cloke. I suspect Tom Mc will get first dibs but if Travis is on song running Darth Vader out of the square with him won't help. He is too big and too strong overhead for anyone we have got. We just have to hope he has one of his off days.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
