With one more thing, Nev finally after five years had no post/pre season ops and got through every session in the pre season he had to...showing the benefits of his first full preseason....one of the reasons Rawlings went in to bat for him, knew the talent was there but had never got a proper crack.......

Hey Saty. You need to correct the spelling of your last word. It's spelled c-o-a-c-h

Late last year, I ran into Pedo on my lunch break in Bayswater.. Asked for a photo, he looked shocked that someone recognised him. Told him I'm a mad melbourne supporter and that I loved his work (which may have been stretching the truth a tad at the time) .. I think I may have blown a bit of wind into his sails, along with the Roos effect. Its so good to see him turn it around!

I can start showing off the photo with pride :)

Maybe you should get down to training and blow some wind into the sails of Blease, Tappy and Strauss because Casey doesn't seem to be windy enough for them.

The place is a bit less colourful without H's contributions.

I'd love to know how he's enjoying a midfield that actually crack in, and can execute.

Can't quote again for some reason, my post was good, you must be a bit precious AF, some on here just bag for baggings sake, go back and read some of the bile from last year

Anyway would you like to be referred to as a spud I wouldn't and I would deck anybody that had the guts to do it to my face, which on here they don't

As for instructions, one of Roh Bail's is he has to impact the scoreboard, Nev's was to keep it simple in his first couple of games, ie probably just shut his man down

In the same vein, can someone please pass me a piece of pie for my comments on Nev Jetta.

Gutsy, brave and 'plays his role'.

Roos is an effen genius.

PS I'm calling it now - Strauss will fire up soon!

I have the feeling the coaches think Strauss has more ability than what he's showing

It would be nice to have a HBF who can deliver well and negate his opponent. IF Grimes / Terlich had Strauss' disposal we would be a far better team. Trouble is, Strauss doesn't have those other attributes.

Agree. I assume he just wandered off and not evicted.

Again, I dunno about that....I reckon there's something there.....

I think Strauss is one with a self belief issue. I think he has much, but is being held back. a bit shy footywise?

I'm very disappointed with Blease thus far, I can only imagine he has an attitude issue? just doesn't seem to be able to progress to a solid level of real football.

In the final analysis dee-luded some players are not good enough and don't make it.

I suspect Strauss and Blease are in that group.

He usually wanders over to BigFooty as Trav 20 when he cracks the...sads.

Probably there.

Eh, not for me.

I'd prefer the Palace rather than Big Day Out.

It's a shame Ben doesn't post here any more. He backed Pedo although as I recall he went off him reasonably quickly and has probably lost his bragging rights.

I was one who was sucked in by his highlight reel but was quickly turned off him. A large part of that was becuase of his fitness which didn't look great.

....and the totally unanswerable question remains -- could they have done better elsewhere, with different players / rôle models around them, and different coaches, or were they just not great choices by our recruiters?

Apologies - I forgot this is a Cam Petersen thread

Ben Hur or Pedo?

He's over there. Seems to have mellowed a bit. I think this place just brought out the worst in him.

true, I liked the way Strauss was playing prior to him breaking his leg. I think he is gunshy, but maybe always will be.

Blease on the other hand isn't gunshy, but from the times of witnessed him onfield, & also away from the grounds, he seems a cocky kid. I wonder if he has a chip on his shoulder, holding himself back from learning? Pity really because he has the speed to play damaging footy. He was one I liked for the draft that year, along with Zaharakis.

Same.

He's more comfortable with other clubs supporters.

I'd say absolutely monocular. but the attitudes adopted by the kids happen early days in their time at the new club.

it can be very difficult for players to change their heads, after they have had it too good. I think this has happened Often with our recruits at Melbourne, for far too long.

it could be time to call time & move on?

Have you seen the size of him Biff? The only thing you could beat him at is Scrabble, and even Enyaw could do that.

I need a drink. Moonie has actually made a clever comment (ghost writer?). Anyway don't let it go to your head Moon.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
