He is relishing the support he now has with Cross, Vince, Tyson and another year into Viney and Matt Jones,

got a quiet $50 on a top 10 finish in the brownlow.

Do i need to ay anything? just wow.
Are we watching a David Neitz go about it? In terms of the next "club legend"?
Brad Green, Mcdonald etc. were awesome but i feel they were just off "legend" status.
ISo happy the rest of the AFL world have woken up to how bloody good this guy is.
Enjoy this over your breakfast, sums him up in one:

Love that winning feeling! I Couldn't be prouder of my teammates. Resilience & character. Huge support from the demon army to 1f44c.png#godees

Another 3 brownlow votes yesterday I reckon he would be right up there at this point

havent seen a Demon player dominate like this since David Neitz in 2002

He is a chance for the Brownlow at this rate

Sitting third in the Lou Richards medal right now if he got any votes yesterday he'd be winning

Top 10 in Herald Sun player of the year

More than likely got 8 or more brownlow votes so far

Ranked 109 in the afl player ratings

Something out of place there seriously underrated

Great post - you're on the money.

The reality is though, he's been underrated because of the team he leads.

As the side demands/commands more respect, Jones will similarly gain more respect (from those in the AFL community who reside outside the Demons tent).

Not sure what the odds are for him to win it, but back at the end of April the odds were paying 126 for him to place in the Top 3.

And sheehan doesnt rate him in the top 50.

If we keep going this way Jones and Tyson will be in there, maybe even howe as the new josh gibson(only a better mark)

Was chatting with a bloke at the airport this morning, a Hawks fan who was very happy with Dom Tyson in his supercoach team, and then he finished with "geez Nathan Jones is a bloody good, tough player" after watching yesterday.

Respect is coming.

The interesting things about Nate Jones is that for a while he's the only player at our club to get any recognition around the comp but it was kind of pitying respect. Commentators would say stuff like, "in a bad team Jones really works hard". Now people are finally starting to realise he's not just a good player rising to the top in a bad team, he is an A-grader who is rising with the team now that he has support.

i sent a text in to SEN when it was fantasy footy talk time. They were talking about great pick ups. At the time jones was around 500k. I sent in a text about jones being a pretty good high scorer pick up. They decided to look it up and at the time he was averaging 115 sc points, they were very surprised to say the least.

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face when I read this on my twitter feed. Here we have respect coming from a champion of our game. Not only supporters, but players are legitimately recognizing the Melbourne Football Club and our players. It's great to see.

I reckon nate Jones will certainly be in mikes top 50 by the end of the year

I am just so excited by Tyson and viney those two look like the next black and Voss

Wow good on Joel Selwood for showing respect like that!

How much of a boost would a contract extension from nate be before the end of this year, massive show of faith for the young blokes to follow.

Yes lucky Sheehan is a Melbourne supporter and MFC member! I wonder where he would rate jones if he wasn't?

They have been rivals since kids. Apparently at all the footy carnivals, athletic meets etc. it was always young Selwood and Jones battling it out.

They got drafted the same year too, and have a huge amount of respect for one another due to being rivals since pre-teens, til' now!

It's a given. Jonesy isn't going anywhere.

There was a moment in maybe the last quarter where he literally leaped on a pack, got the ball, got out and hit a target lace out. It was an Ablett like effort.

He is an absolutely sensational player and the first true A Grader we've had since Neita.

He's only 26 and just reaching his peak. He strikes me as the type of player that will go well into his 30s and still play good footy. By then he'll be a bonafide MFC legend if he isn't already.

He is everything you say Jaded and more! What a champion he really is. And what a champion TEAM we are becoming. We are truly back.

I know I shouldn't pay attention to it, but I have no idea how Jonesy continues to fall down the rankings on that AFL Player Ratings site. He's sitting at 119 now and dropping. Howey'll be our highest ranked player soon.

Just watched the last quarter replay, and so many players had such a good last quarter, but Nathan Jones was outstanding. He produced the sort of quarter Selwood and Ablett produce when the heat is on. Not only did he win virtually 80% of the clearances in that quarter, his kicking was superb, and he busted his gut. Some of his handballs out of the packs were deadly. I think he was involved in pretty much all of our scoring shots.

He is simply a brilliant player.

People are worrying about Nate Jones contract extensions? Puh-leeze... Jonesy, like Viney, will be a Demon for life. They'll be our next two captains for the forseeable future.

The only reason there's so many outstanding contracts is because Roos will do a top to bottom assessment of our list at season's end and decide who he needs and who he can trade for the role players he needs. They'll also have a fair bit of the salary cap available with Clark's departure, so I imagine he's thinking of who he needs to lure from other clubs and how much money he has to do it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
