Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Players to target at the end of the year

Wouldn't go near Vickery with a barge pole. Goes missing for long periods of time and has never given 100% effort for 100% of the game.. wouldn't be the only Tiger guilty of that though.

same could of been said of Rodan at tiges, & Jay Shulz - http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/port-forward-jay-schulz-says-his-axing-from-richmond-was-just-what-he-needed/story-fni5f9de-1226718036782

Forget Vickery and Butcher. If we need extra talls and we do then we can draft ones who can kick and want to get a kick. Depending where we finish in the pecking order McCartin is one that has a lot of mongrel, can mark, get the ball and kick. The game will have passed the likes of Vickery and Butcher by.

Makes you wonder if the Tigers are just a toxic environment?

like us until recently, the Saints prior to Thomas/Lyon, the Bears prior to Matthews, the Dogs?, the Hawks prior to Kennedy/Jeans.

they still have to grapple with the culture thing. It Does exist. its a spiritual thing. the soul of a club/collective.

I don't write off talented people, if given the chance, unless first hand see their lack of effort under strong support.

With those guys it'd all be about what we'd give up, I reckon we would be likely paying overs for people that aren't proven. I was comfortable with us paying overs for Dawes as he had shown he could play. Vickery is yet to do that and while Butcher has shown ability he is extremely injury prone.

I would rather us go after and pay overs for someone that has shown he can play.

A content environment perhaps.

Richmond desperately need a 'Nathan Jones/Jack Viney' type player.

They lack an inside mid, they believe talent alone will get them there, it won't.

Shane Tuck was a bigger loss for them than they recognize.

The Tiges deciding they could either not afford Matty White or give him a 3 year deal looms as a list management clanger.

I suggested Matty White last year, in the recruiting thread. I think he was one of the free agents, was he? I liked his running & speed & had little confidence long term for Bail, etc. everyone chortled like magpies in autumn.

just like they scoffed at me suggesting Chappy for the last 3 years.

I wouldnt have scoffed at you last year for chappy 3 years, because i didnt have a demonland account.

But i will now. He is way way way too injury prone for a 3 year deal. He has already shown his injury troubles this year and the last thing we needed was an older player clogging our list due to injury. On the contrary im happy we got an ageing cross, because he is not injury prone.

HaHaHa, sorry, I didn't suggest a 3 year contract for Chappy, a 1Yr contract, which I've been suggesting for about the last 2 or 3 years. to get his attitude, hunger & culture leadership to our club.

So a 1Yr contract was my call for him... may have suggested 2 years, about 3 years back? can't remember now.

essentially I wanted to rid the club of the old players who grew up with the weak culture, & keep our young kids, but bring in great leaders from the successful clubs with great cultures, to teach the kids.

Treloar of GWS is said to be unhappy over in the west sydney badlands and will be on his bike home at end of year.

IMO, he's better value than Scully and definitely worth looking at.

Surprised at the lack of replies to the above comment. Treloar is just about the best midfielder on the Giants list and would be a huge get. If frawely does leave, it would put us in a great position to obtain him.

Any more details on this WJ?

GWS are awful without Mummy in. Scully an absolute [censored], turnover merchant; literally makes their team worse. Bring on the player exodus please!

Must be miserable for those talented young players, drafted to a team with no history or culture with no supporters, playing in the badlands of a city where nobody cares about AFL, with nobody bothering to show up and watch you play every week.

I think any Victorian player who grew up dreaming of playing for an AFL team would be desperate to get back to Victoria and run out on the MCG every other week for a Melbourne based team.

Yep, could care less about how bad the floggings against them are. Rubbish team holding some genuine talent hostage, and serves the AFL right for compromising the draft for so many years.

The more floggings they receive, the better our chances of landing their best players. I'd say anyone they haven't convinced to re-sign yet is looking for a ticket home (Patton, Shiel, Treloar?). I note they wasted no time locking Kelly away on a 4 year contract literally the day after his first game (think they won against StK?), knowing he'd be optimistic about the team's direction. They've been going backwards ever since.

GWS is a potential goldmine. They've had 18 first round draft picks since coming into the AFL and plenty of them aren't getting games due to injury and form. In the right environment they could develop into great players. Dom Tyson is a great example. I'd definately be looking at guys like O'Rourke and Tomlinson at years end.

Any decent players not signed up by Brisbane should also be gettable.

I'll take Justin Clarke, Sam Mayes would be nice and Zorko

Yes, there are plenty of GWS youngsters that will want to be heading home or leave the club. They are a young, up and coming side with an abundance of young talent, that simply cannot be kept. I would not be surprised if Roos isnt already enticed to get some young guns from them

Ryan O'Keefe would be a handy pick up.

36 touches on the weekend in the reserves.

Apparently won't be getting his contract renewed at seasons end.

His last year at the Swans, I think O'Keefe is good for another 2-3 after this year.

A side consisting of O'Keefe and Cross is a pretty professional outfit.

Good teachers.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
