On the way to the ground today I said to Mrs Robbie that Carlton were a really carp side and she said, unfortunately we are even worse.

I got to the game little late and we were two goals down when I got there; not a good start but the boys really put in today; really proud of the way they played.

Oh! and being right made it even better.

How often have we won in the away jumper?

That's more like it.

My poor grandson had to go camping this weekend so he missed the game, he's nearly 11 and he's only seen us win a handful of games.

You little beautie. A suspicious move from Malthouse putting their only forward in Henderson down back at the top of the last, but we tried our hearts out today. Frawley was fantastic. Jones was solid. M Jones played his best game for the club. Spencer was very, very good. Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and Hawthorn are the teams I'd rather beat than anyone else. So sweet.

Havent seen one post on Grimes'game. He was excellent and deserves respect today after being cained by many on here the past few weeks.

It was his first ever win against Carlton. Unbelievable.

To be fair, it's hard to go near the circle when there is no circle.

Half expected to see Neeld in opposition post match circles, given the way he seemed to plot against us at times.

Sorry Neeldy, cheap shot.

Greatly impressed by Kent, Viney, Chip, Dunny, Cross and TMac today. TMac started poorly but came back strong. Dawes was a great inclusion, really straightened us us and made the forward line competitive. Looking forward to seeing Garland and Hoges line up.

Wonder if they dedicate the win to Mitch?

my highlights

Grimes's best game in ages. He was fantastic

Dawes, it's amazing what happens when you suddenly have a tall forward to kick to. We went long and his 2 goals were brilliant.

Frawley, what a game. His leading up was great and his 2 goals and not to forget his 15 marks and 6 inside 50's. Keep him down there. He is enjoying ti and is another target.

McDonald was brilliant down back

Spencer was great in the ruck except that one lapse he had in the 3rd quarter where he didnt go up for the ruck. Loved his ragged doll tackle on Yarran.

JKH. I wanted him to start and his tackle on Cripps was sensational and he kicked a nice goal to.

Viney my god how good it is to have him back and vince was down today but we covered him

Jones is just the ultimate warrior. He basically sacrificed himself out of the midfield today to shut down murphy and not only did he do that he got the ball 28 times and was just awesome.

Pedersen what a goal in that last quarter. Amazing what a win does. I wonder how many people who were standing up and cheering the goal and when he came off in the end under the blood rule were calling for his head a week ago.

Great win, we actually had a better forward line and were better in the ruck. Hats off to Spencer's efforts today really enjoyed watching him today, Frawley was so good, he might be asking for a million a season if he plays like that. To hear the song at the end was so good. So [censored] good. We'll done boys. YES!!!!!!

Before this round, only Jones, Spencer and Cross averaged more than 4 or more tackles a game.

This game we had 13 players lay 4 or more tackles. Huge plus for team effort and no doubting that was what got us the match.

I only had radio and numbers up here in Sydney, but Jones clearly was extraordinary. Cross, Frawley, Grimes and McDonald all sounded/statted like they were making a big contribution. Duble figures 1%ers from McDonald again.

I'm really pleased with Spencer's contribution. His best game to date? Competent disposal and a few marks to go with solid ruck contest and his usual steady stream of tackles.

I think the big story of this game overall is how many of our weaker players were at the very least 'not liabilities'.

I think Spencer is worth persisting with. He's a big guy, who'll get bigger, & he'll have a real dip. many won't.

Jamar will be finished this year, & Gawn may never make it as a ruck.

I think you'd have to call Nathan Jones elite now. Not quite at the Ablett, Pendlebury, Jobe Watson level, but if you widen the field of elite midfielders a bit he's there.

There is no way Jones is elite. He played a very good game today, but was still caught with it far too often and I felt he failed to recognise his limitations a few times today. He gave Murphy a bath though. What a great move from Roos to get them to go head-to-head.

I don't think he's in the elite batch with Ablett and Watson and several others but you saw today what difference some wins make I think. Also how much easier it is to play well in a team with help. Maybe not elite but he deserves a place in Mike's top 50 ahead of plenty of others who often bob up in those lists.

Absolutely stoked for the boys - they deserved it today.

We stuck our tackles, our disposal was 150 % better than it has been, and we didn't overuse it.

Thought the forward line worked really hard - the scoreboard showed 25 marks between Frawley (14) and Dunn (11), and Dawes kicked the clutch goals when he needed to, in addition to at least 2 goal assists.

Grimes had his best game in ages and Jack Viney is just a gem; his ability to break through pack and use the ball well under pressure is a pleasure to watch. Was a key factor in the our second quarter comeback, one of those players who just wills himself into the game.

Was scared that perhaps we wouldn't know how to win but we played out the game well, slowing it down, holding them up, and keeping the ball in tight at the stoppages.

Hopefully the win will boost the confidence of the boys and help regenerate some of that self-belief which we all know is so important

Well done Demons.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
