Me too. I've always really liked Watts.

I still think he'll prove to be a much better pick for us than Nik Nat. Over the entire journey, that is.

id be interested to see the game time stat from Watts on the weekend, i feel like he played only just over 50% of the game and had 22 touches.

I very much like how the idea is to get the ball to him as much as possible, i wouldnt be surprised to see him get tagged throughout the year due to the quality of his disposal. The thing i was most impressed with was his determination to try and get the football, especially in the first quarter, he was diving in for the footy a couple times and had a want that i had not seen from him before

He didn't really play much in the second term, and wasn't great early on in the third, but his first and last were very solid.

It wasn't just the 22 possessions, it was the 8 marks. He ran to present time and time again.

Nic Nat averages about 11 possession per game. With lower effective disposal %. He looks flash but it is fools gold. If it were my choice today I would still pick Jack Watts. At the end of their careers he will be seen as the better player. PS. NN said he would go home after the first contract anyway.

Yeah i would certainly prefer to have Wattsy, even if he doesn't improve we know we have a bloke with elite disposal who can play forward, midfield, back, ruck all at a solid B grade level, most certainly in our best 22 and mountains of room to improve at just 22 years of age.

Bob Murphy's play does the talking and he's never backed out of a contest or had trouble laying tackles.

Let's just see with Watts. I'm still expecting plenty more growing pains based on his first hit out. He's not an elite runner and he's not a solid build. Ok he's tall and fast which is nice but in itself doesn't give him a huge advantage.

There's a lot of things to recruiting like character, leadership and personality. But probably the 3 biggest things for the best footballers are:

- Athletic talents

- Hunger for the contest

- Skills

I'd give Watts 5/10 athletically. He has to build his tank and add some muscle whilst keeping speed to be higher than that. I'd give his hunger for the contest about a 3/10 and his skills an 8/10.

Jack's move to the midfield is about utilising his skills and given his pace and skill an opportunity to shine. But he's still not an amazing athlete and his one preseason game showed that he was working hard to get the ball but had work to do at contests still.

Everyone expects him to go from an unreliable forward or defender to quality midfielder. It's not going to happen over night.
