Hard done by

This is probably not a ground breaking thread but I thought I'd share an insight of one of the playing group.

I had a chat with a Jack Watts (not on the family day) about what Roosy was like. Jack told me that they can finally see how a real coach operates after six years of rubbish. The group kind of felt hard done by as its obvious the last 5-6 years were a waste.

Some might read this in a negative light but it's not how Jack portrayed it. It's as though they felt like "where has this been"? Jack said he has never been more optimistic about the year ahead and that PR has had a enormous effect on the group.

Its not massive but I thought it was worth a share.

Not sure if this has been placed in any other thread but think it's suited to this one.

The irony in this has got to be that if Melbourne wasnt such a complete and total basket case I doubt roosy would have been offered the money nor have been interested in the position. So.....if he's really as good as everyone seems to be saying we should probably thank Neeld and schwab!

Sorry to say Wells 11 but that has got to be the strangest conclusion I have seen in some time.

It is a bit like saying just as well they bombed Hiroshima because we end up with Mazda cars.

That is a really interesting comment Steam but I think it's a bit harsh to put Bailey in the same basket as Neeld.

bahahahahahah is this a joke?

I feel hard done by the 5-6 years of a team not having a crack, or seeming to give a damn.

And i have paid EVERY YEAR to feel this way, you Jack and the rest, have been paid quite handsomely to feel "hard done by."

Losers move blame onto other people.

Take some of it onto yourselves please boys, not all of it is the coaches fault.

Hard done by?

Spare me please.

He and his underlings gave us all those wonderful players like Gysberts, Cook, Bennel, Martin, Campbell etc etc

Presidered over 186.

Cut every Senior player for kids who were not ready.

Not harsh IMO.

Well deserved

That's all well and true, but when are we going to see the real Jack Watts? It's easy to throw mud, but harder to catch it.

Dean is pretty ill and I think out of respect we should leave him out of these sort of discussions.

He wasn't perfect that's for sure OD. However, we had some memorable and inspiring wins under Bailey that will stick in my memory forever. Bailey was not divisive in the same way as Neeld.

What you say is true Bbo And we are getting off the thread theme so I will leave it there but just say I cannot forgive yet

Appreciate your compassion RL but disagree with your contention. We are not into character assination but a discussion of the club and its performance in various situations. We all have sympathy for Dean and his family but we cannot expunge his time at the club from our history nor its (possible) impact on our current state.

I'd be disappointed if any of our players blamed the previous coaches or board.

Nathan Jones didn't seem to have any trouble performing, it comes from within, Jones knows this - as do all the elite.

We've had a lot of pea hearts on our list over the years, thankfully most of them are now gone.

Agreed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never read Bailey or Neeld blaming individual players for the team's failings.

At the end of the day, these blokes are meant to be adults. Neeld carried on like a madman at times but he didn't make Brent Moloney not try.
I'm pretty certain that if we do come good, a lot of the same guys who didn't like Neeldy or Bails will be looking for plenty of plaudits and won't be palming those plaudits onto Paul Roos exclusively.

The club was gifted the most highly decorated junior footballers in the country over the last 7 years , and 2 coaches screwed them its as simple as that, I think people are going to be very shocked this year .

No joke mate, he was merely stating that they now felt like they were being coached. He freely admits he's got to improve as the the entire list.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
