I heard somewhere that his missus was homesick and went back home to WA taking his child with her, hence the big dilemma in his life.

The club allowed him to go back home and sort it out.

The injuries are secondary.

Women and kid, that'll do it to ya.

Poor bloke.

his 'missus' and the mother of his daughter are two different people to my knowledge. So not sure how accurate that is.

Didnt MFC put one of them through a Uni course? Surely she wouldn't have finished it in 2 years

FFS - are you serious?

Now speculating based on a rumour the club assisted with his partner's education...

olidik, you're continually reaching new lows.

Calm down mate. and yes I am serious, I am pretty sure the MFC had input into his partner doing a course.

No need to get your knickers in a twist mate

If Mitch is depressed, do you really think $35k a week is making him feel better? Or do you think that the money and expectation is only making it harder for him to recover?

I swear some people don't use their brains in situations like this. A man can have all the money in the world and be unhappy.

well said.

i really would like to see this thread closed for awhile.

the suffering is alone hard enough to take,we dont need to harp on about his sickness.

just look at it this way, mitch may be back,he may not be back.

let the young man recover and get on with some sort of life, with or without money.

its no big deal, we have seen plenty of players not see out their contracts and life goes on.

if and when the time comes the so called new club manager,PJ will do what has to be done.

but i personally would love to see mitch live a forfilled life and tell everybody how great and understanding our club is.

it would be great for the players to see him walk in one day and say hello at training,im sure they would be rapt to see him recovered and happy.

our club has a contract with him and it shouldnt be broken,maybe renegotiated after a non return from mitch.{this is normal }

Unfortunately in the case of this topic, there are no known facts.

ok lets put some ill informed posts and rumours to bed. My sister happens to work for the media and has alittle (not all) knowledge of whats going on.

ok. firstly mitch is in Melbourne. he and jones even posted the other day pics of a photo session they did together that day.

Mitch daughter lives mostly with her mother in Brisbane. comes down every now and then and stays with Mitch and his now gf.

Mitch has depression from a lot of different areas that he is dealing with. ie: not seeing his daughter everyday. not playing the sport he loves for 2 years. getting over a injury and then getting a new one over and over.

Mitch is away from the club but still in contact with some players and the medical staff. he is doing his own training so we when mitch decides its time to come back (hopefully at the end of his 8 weeks off) he will be still fit and injury free. He will prob have to do acouple of weeks AFL training to get that fitness back and then a couple of games at casey to get match fitness. So in my understand and beliefs he will return to the club and he will play this year but not until the second half of the season.

Listening to Paul Roos this morning it sounds like the issue could be more medical related than mental illness, or maybe i misheard him.

I understand the difference, no need for a stupid comment, i am just saying i think the issue could be something physically wrong, rather than a mental illness like most are suggesting.

I don't think people see it as mutually exclusive issues anymore. Mental health causes physical symptoms as well.

if you meant injury related then you should have said so

I absolutely agree, but it just sounded as though the physical symptoms were the major issue, i could be totally wrong

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
