Haha. I enjoyed posting it.

I hope Nasher is keeping count of all the IOU 'likes'.

11.1 in the 100m.

That's quick.

It's quick but it's all relative. After completion of the heats, Hunt missed out on the APS Division 1 race which was won in 11.04 secs by a runner from St. Kevins. Hunt ran a wind assisted 11.14 secs to win Division 2. The race record is 10.62 secs. So yes, he's quick and probably would beat Freeman in a sprint race but he's a few metres below the real elite of his age and he'll never be an Usain Bolt who I reckon is "electric".

I am actually excited by this kid. Yes he has electric pace and is a very good mark but for me most importantly he actually steadies himself before he kicks the ball. Not many players do that and as a result their kicks are often terrible. Looks to have poise to go with his speed and will only get better. A nice pick up for a late pick

Just heard Mark Fine talk about Jayden Hunt on SEN. He noticed him at a Caulfield Grammar v Old Brighton game and said that Kelly and Salem gave the ball to Hunt as he was the go to man. In his opinion if Salem and Kelly were in the top 10 then Hunt had to be No 1. He reckons the kid is an absolute GUN!

Robert Shaw knows a lot about him and footy wan't his primary sport - I think tennis was and he has spoken with Fine a lot about this kid.

He has had a growth spurt and Finey reckons he has somehow flown under the radar and may be the smokey of the draft when we look back..

He could be an absolute gun or he may not be. Simple fact is we used pick 57 on him in an offseason where we traded picks to get the kind of players we wanted anyway. For win-win situations then this is definitely one of them

Good to hear, sounds like an exciting prospect!

From reading I gather he is excellent offensively but has never learnt defensive skills and has a lot of body work to do.

That's great. It's nice to have a natural footballer with a late pick who they think with hard work can be someone great. At 57 our risk is nothing, we're just working against time. Good luck Jayden, you're a sick hunt.

*Low risk

Yes. I shouldn't have to spell out exactly what I mean by typing the exact words that I should.

After getting excited this time of the year for the past six years sorry for my negativity but he runs fast and he grew 5cm this year........so he has "enormous upside". Don't we have Blease and Dom Barry on our list for this reason!!!

Hope he proves me wrong!

So reading through the information the club has dished out plus a few interviews we have the following:

- Was a very good player in his early teens but fell away when he didn't grow

- Had some growth-related injuries in year 11 when he suddenly sprouted and missed a fair bit of football.

- Comes from a good sporting family.

- Football hasn't always been his primary sport.

- Melbourne somehow got the word on him relatively early and have been keeping an eye on him for most of the year.

- He is very clearly not as developed as the kids who came through the TAC cup system.

- Has really good pace and a pretty decent kick. Also took some really good marks, although we don't know if he'll be able to do this against stronger opponents.

- Well-credentialed commentators who know who he is say we may have the steal of the draft.

That about sum it up so far?

This from BF:

"You guys have got yourselves a real gem, both on and off the field in Jay. Went to school with the guy and can say unequivocally that he is one of the best young leaders I've come across, I cannot state this enough."

Are you on drugs? Relative, smellative. Bolt, smolt. It is exceptionally quick. Full stop.

It's of little concern if he doesn't - a mere 20% of players taken after Pick 50 from 1999 to 2005 played 100 games.

Damian Barrett has just called this the worst selection in draft history and predicted that Melbourne will not win a game all year and maybe the next. He has also knocked Roos for smiling when interviewed.

Whilst this is untrue I am tipping he actually would do that. I am finding it difficult to spread the hate between him and Carowhine Wilson who has been abnormally quiet this off season

That's a fair bit higher than I would have thought.

Remember, they are for those specific years. In 2000 it jumped to 39% and remained above 25% for a further three years before plummeting to 15% over 2004/05.

In the same timeframe (1999 to 2005) - 59% of Top 20 picks played 100 games and 33% of ND21-49 picks played 100 games.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
