Now I'm not being critical as I've got as big a man crush on the messiah as anybody on this forum BUT..........

It would have been nice to hear something from our new coach directed to the long suffering supporters and members. Just a word to the faithful cautioning unrealistic expectations, it's going to take time, the building blocks etc etc Apart from the initial pressers directed to the adoring public at large I haven't heard a thing. Not even our intrepid reporter Matty Burgan has managed to extract anything.

I'd rather he was relatively quiet and I think he will be. In recent years our coaches and admin have been coming out with stupid statements like 'we'll be the hardest side to play against' etc. Roos won't do this and I don't believe he'll come out and temper expectations either. The footy will do the talking next season.

Maybe Roos doesn't believe we are the basket case that everyone else does?

Maybe Roos taken the job on believing that he could improve the list fairly quickly in 2014.

Judging from an article on Bernie Vince I read during the week, the club believed that we are not as bad as our results - Vince appeared to be on board with that.

Why should Roos come out and say temper expectations? F-that, we aim to win and conceding defeat is for those who are happy not to be winners.

Roos is changing our culture and we aim to win.

he hasn't moved to melbourne yet.

give it time.

i like that we are going about our business quietly. what other coach's are wandering down media street at the moment? it's all about recruiting managers and footy dept heads at the moment; josh mahoney is going great guns.

Bad Call! Its pretty obvious that MFC has decided that Josh will be the spokesperson throughtout the draft/trade period. Notice we haven't heard from Viney (List Management) or Taylor (Recruiting) either. A Smart move by the Club to have just one person to front the media and give a consistent unified view on what is happening.

I think he is very much the sort of "let my actions speak for themselves". It is also not even through the trade period and you wouldnt expect him to give a running commentary on every trade. He would leave that to his "comms" people which he is doing. No doubt he will comment in due course, maybe after the first official training session under him on 15th November. Now I suspect Goshes Paddock maybe quite crowed on that day don't you think?

I've actually noticed how little we have heard from him since his appointment and I've loved it.

As the Romans used to say (and they had a fair win/loss record over a few centuries I reckon all would agree) - Res non verba !!

Maybe we could paraphrase it with - Roos non verba

I would have thought after the last 2 work experience guys and the way they were constantly jabbering on about our progress and being competitive its nice to have less talk and more action (if only off the field at this stage)

I am sure when the time is right and Roos has something to say he will say it.

In Roos I trust.

I like the quiet no [censored] approach. Not selling hope with words but by getting the job done.

We do need memberships so he will have to start selling the vision at some stage!!

Paul Roos isn't reactive anyway.

Roos lets his actions speak, it's been evident in his issue with Barry Hall - in which Roos has simply ignored him.
To Barry Hall, that says two things - 1. Your Behavior is out of line... 2. It's not tolerated, bye..

Roos Vs Colless, let's just say that Roos won that one hands down without even speaking a word.

Roos get's results by his actions, that is exactly why the players will play for him and exactly why he is the best man for the job.

We have a list that needs to also take actions to get results.

Roos won't sell the vision, he will be about improving on field performance - and results can sell the vision.

We've had coaches come in and try and sell the vision - but they lacked in results, I think Roos would rather see results and let them speak for themselves.

Been thinking the same thing. Quotes from Mahoney, Viney, Taylor about our trade/draft period but nothing from the coach.

The only coach I can think of who has been talking throughout the trade period is Scott from north u know the ugly one of the twins!

He's a footy coach not a salesman.

It's not really fair to be labelled the ugly twin of those two. Good footballers, but that's where their god given talents finished I'd say.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
