Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lets not get too excited chaps. Silvia hasnt signalled his intentions other than to say he wants to be a one club player.

He has not signed either. the longer it goes on the greater chance he will be somewhere else.

I just wish he would make the announcement either way.

The press reports which cite Fremantle's interest also admit that he is yet to meet with Roos since his return from the USA. I would back Roos to give him the best advice on his future and that of the Dees and i suspect that he may well be pulling on his No. 12 again next year.

... we must make sure that the compo selection is used for the betterment of developing the list, not to be used to find another "mature body" akin to last years Neeld disaster of finding whatever scraps clubs were willing to send us.

I don't regard our recruiting efforts in 2012 as a disaster at all. We managed to get Jack Viney with a second rounder, got the player we wanted in Jimmy Toumpas at pick 4, picked up Jesse Hogan and Dom Barry in the mini draft, Dean Kent looks likely and mature age recruits Matt Jones, Dean Terlich and Mitch Clisby all showed a lot. Injuries aside, Chris Dawes provided leadership and will be a very handy cog in our forward line with a healthy body and a full pre season behind him.

Given the turnover of 14 players in a season, the players you get at the end of the line are always going to be a bit of pot luck. I think Pedersen was a fair swap for Gysberts who didn't get a game at North. Byrnes cost absolutely nothing and is there as much as anything for experience and leadership. That leaves us with David Rodan who we picked up for pick 88 (and a similar role to Byrnes) and Tom Gillies, a flop who came as a delisted free agent and cost nothing.

On balance, I think our recruiting at the end of 2012 was a plus given the necessarily high turnover in players. I'd be happy with more of the same with the rider that we should expect at least one high quality trade coming in if we let pick 2 go.

Perfect summary. There are so many things to dislike about the Neeld era but the 2012 draft period is not one of them

And yet we went backwards in games won and ladder position.

You can hardly call the 2013 MFC players list a functional team

I agree 100%. The media moneyball took on a life of its own and became a truth because it was stated so often. The recruitng last year was the best we have done for years. None of the duds we moved on got a game anywhere. Molloney was a loss as will Sylvia but if the player decides to walk then that is their call and there is only so much the club can do. Rodan and Byrnes were free ad cheap and were ot our worst performers and added critical seniority and leadership to the team. They allowed for the appropriate development of the youngsters at Casey without the need to play thyem in the AFL too early.

If we can get the same results this year as last I would be very happy.

I disagree withe notion its anything like a A or B+ . The jury is still out on whether Toumpas was the right call and until such time as its clear it was a good one then you cant allude to it yet. I only mention that as its relevant , not to incite another battle, but it has currency.. I thought Rodan a good pick and a shame he was cruelled by injury otherwise Id have him still on list for next year...just to keep some honest. I cant imagine what Neeld was thinking in getting Gillies, let alone Pedersen. What mattter it of their cost pick wise ,we've still got bloody Pedersen. There must have been others also to look at. I think Neeld had his Geelong goggles on at some point.

2012 , far from a disaster, some distance form unmitigated success

Bigger loss than most people realise.

We need his size.. this is another sign best mate Jamar is gawn too

I disagree.. probably the most over rated player on our list in a decade...ooh funny that 10 years !!

there are many a player out there that will play better and harder over the next 2-3 years.

Watch Sylvia struggle anywhere else when his dedication trips him up

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
