There is absolutely nothing in that article that we didn't know already after watching Roos' presser. Roos had stated he talked to Col before he took off on his holiday and that his priority was to keep him at the club. Col will no doubt consider what Roos has put to him and will let the club know upon his return. He has already stated not too long ago that he would love to stay a Dee, so with that in mind and knowing that he is required in Roos plans, I'm sure an agreement will be reached.

I'd like Col to stay, to be a Melbourne player for life. At the same time if he goes, I won't lose sleep. This year he has gone about his football the right way, and when the media has asked him to questions re his contract he's been completely honest. There's alot of hate for Sylvia particularly because he is the literal face for our disappointment.. High draft pick lots of talent but never worked hard enough and cops enormous abuse, but I've valued his 100% effort this year sadly in a year where we've had less leadership than ever I feel he stepped up to the plate. I had alot higher hopes for you Col, I'm sure you did too but thanks never the less.

haha... no, the last avatar change was a limited edition 24hr only celebration of Roos signing on... this one will be more permanent, at least until I change it again (I've always been a big Gerry Gee fan and I thought there was a slight resemblance to Roos in there as well - although he is certainly no dummy).

Col is a very different situation to Watts. Watts is young, still under guidance and the stature of a bloke like Paul Roos draws Jack back to the club like a moth to a flame.

Col on the other hand has a completely different situation, he is only 1 contract away from retirement and he wants finals footy like them all. If Goddard is any example to go by (and not his fault at all), the grass certainly was not greener on the other side. For Rivers, well as you know he played in the loss the Freo on the weekend, but he got the finals footy that he wanted with another game next week.

It would be great to keep Col as he is one of very few seniors left at the club. Though if a more consistent, experience and senior midfielder was willing to do the switch to Melbourne. I don't really see any purpose for him to stay. He is more than likely to plod along for one more contract, then to go out with a bang. That's just my opinion of course. Love for him to have the best last 3 years of his career. I am sure he would too.

Two weeks ago Ted Richards was on the Sunday morning footy show on channel 7, he was asked about Lewis Johnston(traded by Swans to the Crows). Ted's reply was along the lines off "didn't want to buy in, commit to training, didn't comply to the work ethic and standards set by others". Not sure if Roos or Horse was coaching when he was traded but that sounds like to me the culture that Roos installed in his players, the culture we want him to install at the Demons. If we become a proper team and his body holds up he hasn't even turned 28 year. No reason why he doesn't have 5 years left in him or more especially with expansion thinning the available field.

I listened to his B&F speech for any hints of where his head was at.

He joked about it being his third 5th placing, but followed that up with a comment about it being time he improved on that. A logical conclusion to draw from that is that he intends to stay, and to better his performance.

On the flipside, he went on to reflect on his 10 years at the club, whilst making mention of the youth coming through, and the fact the club was in good hands for the future. There was no affirmation of wanting to stick with the club and help drive it towards success, like with Jones and Garland. The manner in which he spoke had a hint of a farewell speech about it.

All in all, still anyone's guess. I won't be shocked either way at this point. Personally I hope he stays, and if I had to provide a tip, I think he will.

I'm assuming that was for me? All the things mentioned are to do with 100% commitment to the jumper. So they are valid to my initial correct post. Sadly Col isn't alone, too many go missing when it all becomes to hard.
