3. Is he more interested in the money

4. Never developed players just drafted in senior ones and developed the team

5. Only won one flag in 2005 - 8 years ago

6. Had John Longmire and Ross Lyon working under him - were the assistants really the brains trust?

7. Goodesy, Joshy, Kirky, Pykey should i go on...

8. The wife don't want him to coach

Why not? Let's get them all out now. No point someone in 12 months time going "I told you all about this guy, he was no good".

Put it out there people

I hope it turns out to be joke, yes. But the questions are ligit. He is not the Messiah, nothing is guaranteed. Good heavens we have been here back in 09/10 when we thought early draft picks would deliver success on a plate with no hard work required.

The fact is you need a lot of luck to go with a lot of hard work. Roosy is a thinker and observer of the game so I think he is still up with the modern game. Not that it's that complicated is it? If we have the ball run and spread, if they get it, pick up an opponent pronto and harass as much as you can to get a turn over, should it be anymore complicated than that for us in the new coaches first year?

10. Have you guys seen how expensive finals tickets are these days? It isn't 2006 anymore!

11. I will discover that I haven't actually mellowed and matured as a person due to civilised behaviour at the football since 2007, as Melbourne has not played a meaningful game since 2006 and I've had no reason to lose the plot.

12. We will see fewer exciting goals (from the opposition).

Not a bad thread in that it brings up some discussion points rather than more messianic adoration (of which I am proudly part of!)

1. It has been only 3 years (hasn't it?)I think and he had still been involved in coaching in Sydney and football in analytical capacity.

2. A risk with all coaches, but I am hoping he can help build the culture of the club and set elite standards that will last past his tenure. Yes, I'd love him to win us a flag in his first 2-3 years but I'm more interested in building a club that is successful in terms of repeat finals, lots of wins, etc. over a decade than winning a flag then dropping back down the bottom the next year, and need sustained success to get our brands and supporter base back on track

3. No. His current coaching and media contacts are width a similar ball park figure, even if it is a touch lower, the additional work goes and effort will balance the extra pay.

4. Interesting point, I've not revised his development of players but he had since spent time working with the development academy, may have learnt new skill sets. Also has track history of getting the best out of bit part players, so could really improve our existing list by bringing out their strengths.

5. Not relevant. Over history, not many coaches have won one flag. Hardly any have won multiple flags. Fewer have had ultimate success at a second club. The reason we want a premiership coach isn't because that makes him more qualified to win another flag but it's because he has credibility and experience in the role.

6. Good point, so knows? He will be bringing his own assistants and is are all out of contract.

7. Good point but if a couple of pays cone on we have a solid core just no superstars.

8. Who does she want?

If we make the finals we could lose one

The fish could be biting on Grand Final day

We have become comfortable with failure....insititutionalised in it.

That's exactly my point. So I'm saying everyone you might not have long before Roos is appointed (or out of the running for the job) so lets all get all the doom out now.

I'm sick of everyone with the I told you so's around here. Get it all out now.

1. Has always stayed in the game (in some form) - and I think its great that he has had a break from footy (I don't know how Worsfold is still going).

4. Hasn't he played a role in Sydney's development team or something?

5. Is there a multiple premiership coach hiding somewhere?

7. You could say he is responsible for developing those players.

8. He won't coach unless he and his family are ready

But I respect the fact that you are looking at this logically.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
