The MFC is taking too long

Mongrel Dee

Recommended Posts

Good football clubs get things done including making sure their next coach is the very best by a country mile. The MFC seems to be taking too long to get the board in place and hence any decent coaching appointments will be snapped up by the smarter outfits.

We need to get a crack on if we want the best. I sense there is too much bloody self interest holding up the board composition and getting on with the business of securing the best.

This clubs survival is on a knifes edge and the lack of communication to members is concerning me.

Last time to get it right and get it done very soon.

We know absolutely nothing about the situation really, that's the whole point, might find out it's all sorted and we're waiting for more appropriate times to make announcements.

That is a way too calm and logical way to look at the coaching situation. This is not the norm for demonland.

I realise this bummers saga will dominate however the MFC is still subject of ridicule and irrelevant to those in power. When they finally decide to communicate to their constituents I hope it's worth waiting for.

I would suggest that each of the roles that needs to be filled probably has multiple good candidates, they don't need to inform the members until they have something that is a. worth reporting and b. that they can report

we will just have to continue to play the waiting game,

It's like the Never Ending Story.

I have never been patient at the best of times but the slow progress is really shiteing me.

Is this panic a result of Voss been sacked? I think back to how the club rushed its appt of Neeld thinking Adelaide were on the prowl. Time to relax and get the right senior coach and assistants right. If Roos decides to coach the Lions, we are better off with another coach.

As usual we will have no clear air in which to make a sober judgement. Happens every time, we need a coach and bingo three or four other teams dump their coaches and are in the market! On the upside Voss cn be a candidate for us but really I just laugh everytime we start looking, bigger or better clubs enter the market.

It is likely the Dons may be on the look out next week as well as the Lions and then it may be WC, who knows.

May have something to do with our highly tuned skills when selecting an MFC coach. If we got it right for once we may not ave to go through this nonsense so often.

If the Neeld imbroglio taught us anything it is that we shouldn't rush to a decision. We should think things through. I would say our number one target, Paul Roos, is a lost cause. Let's go through the experienced senior coaches remaining and get the best possible one we can get.

Well, if as you say, this is the club's last chance to get it right, I think that the last thing they would want to be doing is rushing into these critical appointments.

No need to panic. There will be more experienced and good coaches looking for jobs than positions available. While Roos might be the favourite with supporters, Williams, Eade, Laidley, Ratten, Voss, Harvey, etc all have something to offer and should not be considered as "second-best". Which is the best of that lot? I have no idea - that's why we have a selection panel.

And isn't brilliant that there are no leaks. Sign of good administration.

We could appoint Clarkson, Roos, Chris Scott and Ross Lyon all in a row but if we don't have a strong, united and dedicated board then it won't matter.

I'm happy for the AFL and PJ to take their time vetting the board. The Coaching process is likely moving along at a decent pace anyway and we will have nailed down the shortlist and found the truth about Roos before the board is finalised.

I think we were first to appoint a coach in Neeld before the Crows, Dogs or Saints got their coach. And how did that go for us?

Here's a thought......maybe Brisbane have approached Neil Craig........

Probably not as silly as it sounds, didn't we beat them to his services originally? (Brisbane and maybe Richmond were very keen on his services)

I don't think Brisbane's sacking of Voss indicates they have someone lined up already. If they were going to sack him at year's end, it's best for Brisbane to make it clear they were in the market asap. And if strong rumours were floating around the club that Voss wouldn't be continued, there is nothing to be gained by waiting. Of course they could have someone lined up, but there is nothing to prove it. All speculation.

People need to stop being impatient and let the club do its thing. Everything has to be okayed by the AFL, so that is certainly holding things up and for the better. No brash decisions. Get the make up of the board right.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
