  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That decision is then made by the Anti-Doping Rule Violation Panel, a body independent of ASADA that will view a brief of evidence and the players’ responses.

these guys apparently get to dish out the hell on the bombers

the sad day for football was when the likes of Hird and his henchment set out to rort the game.

Today is a GOOD day for football as it seeks to punish those who disregard the health of some and the best interests of the many.

F**K essendon

We are on the same page - my sadness is that whilst I have always believed that individuals transgress when it comes to drugs I never wanted to see the problem widen to whole segments of the industry like it has with cycling.

I have some sympathy for the footballers themselves. I am positive that they did not believe that they were taking something wrong and wouldn't get caught. I believe they put themselves in the hands of the club and its medical staff. I am sure there was a certain amount of naivety in the players acquiescing to the program. Although I still shake my head that players were asked to sign a document agreeing to the treatment. That really should have rung alarm bells.

One thing for certain - no footballer will accept any treatment without question again.

except it will bankrupt the club. Lawyers of the level required are more expensive than Dolly Parton's plastic surgeon.

Oh no, you mean that Dolly Parton has a plastic surgeon? That has just wrecked my whole day, IF it is true.

Seriously though, some of us demonlanders seem to take great glee from this situation. This is not a fun situation for anyone who likes watching AFL or who is associated with the game in whatever role.

I agree with one of the posts however, it would be great to beat another team fair and square, not one decimated by injuries, banned players etc.

They are cheats! They deserve to be punished. It is a good thing when cheats get caught. I think it has a cleansing effect, somewhat like lancing a boil.

To run flat out at high speed and be able to kick long low and hard, is rare. Dont see it much.

For a whole team to be suddenly able to do it after a pre-season was suspicious.

It stuck out like the proverbial. Im happy to believe the players, the doctors, the management and the coaches were all thinking the same thought.

"How goods this!".

Why the hell is the new AFL CEO not commenting...at all. Surely, as the head of the code, he would be making a comment even if it be about due process blah blah. I'm declaring him [censored] weak.

Along the same lines, you would think James Hird would make comment in support of the players.

RtG the less I hear from him the better.

With a small amount of luck he will stay in France for the next decade.

I would donate $20 in a fund to keep him there.

There is no doubt in anyones mind that this is going to be an ugly protracted legal battle. The advice to him would be simple - say and do nothing.

Glee and joy at Essendons mismanagement! It's good to see another club in trouble especially that one after all our troubles over the past seven years that all other clubs supporters took such a lot if happiness from! F$$$ Essendon!!!

With him they buried the muzzle his teeth had kissed,
And truthfully wrote the Mother “Tim died smiling.”

The last 2 lines of the Wilfred Owen poem SIW Self Inflicted Wound.
I cannot help but think, I wonder if James Hird is smiling?
EFC suffer at their own hands. No one else is to blame, incompetence is no excuse.
The path that EFC took was to gain advantage, to bend the rules to push the boundaries, to cheat. That path has led them here, it is the path they chose to take. Distraction and obfuscation will work no more. If the EFC suffer it is at their own hands, a Self Inflicted Wound.
NB: I acknowledge that EFC's actions are inconsequential in comparison to war, but the AFL is not a war, it is a sport and EFC have violated our game. May they die smiling.

If Watson is found guilty does that mean he will have to hand back his Brownlow?

Should. Would?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
