MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION

Rubbish selection.

Whilst I understand giving Gawn and Toumpas a rest for their tiring bodies, to have left in all of Davey, Howe and Byrnes, who are giving us squat right now, and thus leaving out Strauss, who is doing all he can at Casey, is ridiculous.

Good to see Davis get a game, but totally disinterested about seeing McKenzie again. Should have been someone new.

I just can't wait for AFL season 2013 to finish so I don't have to groan every time footy stuff comes across my computer, tv or radio. I am warn out. This GWS v MFC game attracts me about as much Ita Buttrose in a bikini. TO be honest, I really don't care.

Happy for Davis, though. Should have happened weeks ago.

Amen to all the above brother.

I feel your pain.

Maybe we bought jordie back in to tag Ablett. 3 journos turned up to Neil's presser. Whats the point of having them. No body cares now

I prefer 3 journos to every journo in the land feeding on our demise. The bombers are welcome to monopolise the journos ATM

Best of luck to Davis. Should have played him at the height of his form not as it waned.

Why promote Magner then not play him or even have him as an emergency?

Craig's mantra that we will reward for when Strauss can't get a game after being in the bests 3 of 4 weeks especially when 90% of the side can't kick.

Gawn and Toumpas fair outs but plenty could have followed particularly Davey, Howe, Byrnes.

McKenzie was always going to get a game particularly after 30.

Where is Satyriconhome???????????????????

I am here chap, just been busy at work, been reading the site, we are just in a horrible place at the moment, don't see any point in beating myself up, agree with Craig would like to see a bit of 'effort' for last four games, but not holding my breath, nice to see Truck Davis finally get a chance after 2 years of really good consistent footy at Casey, if nothing else it will show him and the Club whether he can cut it at AFL level......think like a lot of supporters at the moment, will watch the away games on the telly and switch off if it becomes intolerable and go to Fremantle game........then watch with interest what we do then.......we will be coming from way way way back next year

Yes, pleased for Troy, but he's hardly coming off a big couple of weeks having had a combined 20 disposals (av: 10 per game) in the magoos. He should have played weeks ago.

Furthermore, unless they intend sending Dunny or Garland forward, then he will be playing as a forward - hardly the easiest spot in a Melbourne side at the minute.

But at least we will get a chance to see if he can step up at this level.

I don't get the selectors.

When we played Geelong and North, who are always physical, we went for leg speed players and got hammered all day.

This week we play probably the fastest side in the comp and we add Jordie to our line-up.

Explain that?

Pleased to see Davis get a game but I wonder whether he'll play back or forward? And, if back, who of Pedersen, McDonald, Garland or Dunn goes forward? Personally, I'd try Davis forward as none of the others inspire me as forwards.

I note MFC is pointing out that Davis is MFC's 1300th player. Given the age of the MFC, I wonder whether he's the first player of any club to be number 1,300. Anyone know?

North's new guy this week was 997 I think. Something like that. I presume MFC, Coll, Ess and most of the foundation clubs will be around that number.

Maybe St Kilda might have the highest number. A foundation club with a worse record than even the MFC has had in the last few years. You'd assume they must have turned over a lot of players in their time.

WINNERS AND LOSERS by Whispering Jack ...

Unless the playing group makes an effort and demonstrates some pride in itself, then the team will continue to generate more depressing scenes such as those at this week's presser when they were even short of attracting the proverbial three men and a dog.

Gold Coast by 78 points.

Surely, this prediction alone confirms that this must be our worst season ever?

How many of the 1300 players have been developed properly?

That would be an interesting stat.

1300th eh?

Is that a hundred times more unlucky than being the 13th player? If so, knowing Melbourne's luck this year he'll be struck by lightning before he makes it through the banner.

Pederson will prob go FWD. He might actually do ok against younger guys.

Hes fat and slow, but quite strong in the air. plonk him down one out in the goal square perhaps.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
