Then I guess I am not quite as depressed as you BH.

No, Ben's right. Right now, Jones and Garland are the only ones you could argue as being A grade, and both are very borderline. 5-6? You're dreaming OD.

There's other things I don't agree with on your assessment. I wouldn't be putting a line through Blease and Strauss just yet for starters, and there's a much bigger question mark over Tynan than there is Evans and Kent.

On Blease I just think he has one trick, he is a dasher with not much else. Also think he has a low tank!

It is only my opinion P_Man.

Put up your list And I think we may be very similar.

I'm not saying your list is wrong necessarily, I just don't agree with some parts. You are however wrong on the number of A graders we have. If we had SIX A graders, we wouldn't be where we are on the ladder.

Blease has explosive speed and good goal sense. Both are important attributes in any side. Tank can be worked upon. He's still young in terms of games played, that is a non-issue. The bigger concern is his ability to find the football, but he may just be a player who does more with less of it, though ideally he would regularly get to 20+. Overall I think Blease is another player who would be alot better in a good side. He's the cream.

I'll do a full list again when I have the inclination. I've done it a few times before.

These things are always just an opinion as stated.

I have a thick skin P_Man if you stick out your chin someone will punch you on it, which you are not doing in my view.

So it appears we agree with the exception you are a little more negative than me and you think Blease is way better than I do.

Heard a rumour that Lyon will be stepping down due to his wife wanting to move back to Melb and Roos to takeover Freo.

"IF" it is true, Lyon might be available.

That would only happen if he was guaranteed a similar income in Melbourne. I heard he lost a lot of money and needed security and a pay rise and that is why he left the Saints.

If he was available to us and Roos wasn't, I would imagine we would snap him up.

It's more a case of differing interpretations of A Grade.

It appears your definition in this thread Old Dee is an established, competent AFL player

B-H's definition of A Grade is the cream of the crop. Think Pendlebury, Hodge, Selwood, Stevie J, etc. Those who are likely to earn All-Australian honours over more than one year.

And he's right, we don't have one. Not even close

IMO we need to find (import) at least two in the midfield for us to progress. By whatever means.

Im happy with Craig. Hanging to see how guys like Evans plays under him.

I'm not gong to sit down and do a full list assessment just cause you've asked for it. I've merely pointed out a couple of things I don't agree with in yours. It's not an attack OD. No need to get antsy.

I do think you'd struggle to find anyone at all who thinks we have six A graders on our list. Perhaps you mean potential A graders?

I also don't think Blease is "way better", but you've relegated him to the VFL/depth at best. His ceiling is better than that in my opinion.

More posts to come soon enough I expect from Deelanders analysing and provding interpretation on what Roos says, his actions (eg ear pulling), does or doesn't answer on OTC during tonights episode.

No hope of this thread finishing up within 2 months unless the definitive no comes soon

Gee P_Man I think I must have said it wrong or something don't feel antsy at all.

I don't feel attacked by anyone certainly not by you.

As I have said it is only my opinion others will have different views.

It may be as Go the Biff suggests I may have a different view of what A grade is.

The funny thing Is I believe we have a poor list and thought I would get attacked for being too negative.

Does not surprise me that you think I am wrong about Blease, afraid he does little for me.

I would imagine the Essendon job may also be available next season too. From what i remember he isnt even on a massive contract at Freo, only that it was a long term 4 year deal. The figure 650-700k a season seem to ring a bell.

All this is obviously hypothetical. The rumour itself though re him quitting the Dockers due to personal reasons came from Freo people so you just never know!

Taken from the article:

"Lyon said he was in the business of trying to win premierships but would not comment on reports that he would become the AFL's highest paid coach and earn up to $1.5 million per year at Fremantle."

Why would he leave the Saints, burn his manager & players just to earn the same amount he was on at the Saints ?

At least part of the reason was because the Saints were/are a sinking ship. Look at their list - all older players, no doubt great quality but age is beginning to sink them.

They went for older recruits during that period and as a result they don't have a good pedigree of young guys coming through. The Saints will be in dire straights in a few years and Ross got off at the right time.

Agree with all of the above. I believe Lyon wasn't that happy about a diminished role in list management after Pelchen had arrived also.

Can someone give a run down on the Roos saga if anything else gets mention on The Couch?

cheers

Sorry DD, nothing said or mentioned about the coaching position tonight.

The weekends match got about 2 seconds of air time - they just discussed Zorko's goal.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
