Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We never will, but we should send a stern please explain to the AFL regarding the umpiring today. Absolutely [censored] disgraceful.

How can they be allowed to make so many mistakes? Pathetic.

Also please for the love of god no more Byrnes. He is useless.

Edit: Fitzy is fantastic, and Watts has had the most remarkable transformation since Neeld was sacked.

So what IS the rule for forced behinds?

Maybe that failed Tiger and failed umpire coach Gieshen could explain it........if he or anyone else actually knows. :-)))

The club has a few forwards at its disposal . Mitch, Dawes, Watts, Hogan and Fitzy. Fitzy maybe good trade bait for the saints or bullies.

Fitzgerald is an Interesting one. Was touted a top 10 draft pick a year before his draft. Was diagnosed with chronic fatigue in his trade year and was poor as a result and his trade stocks diminished. It turns out he has diabetes and has improved a lot since this has been managed.

Has played well against the best defensive team in the league. He could be something good or just a flash in the pan. Play him for the rest of the season and trade him if Mitch's foot is ok

Of the five you mention, only three are on the Paddock today, and we have never had more than that available. Effectively what you are suggesting is that we trade our tallest and second youngest forward to leave us with two. What is the logic in that?

Why would we bloody trade him?!

Coz we need mids more than forwards!!! We have too many talls in the team. You cant trade crap and get AFL players. Fitzy is showing value ATM and he may gets us a mid that is more important to the team

Simple really

People forget that as one of the lowly teams we get the most inexperienced umpires, week in week out. The good umpires get the Geelong hawthorn gigs.

Its not right, Its not fair. It is what it is.

I understand your logic but I think it would be ludicrous to trade out what's looking to be our one of our best big men.

Fitzy apart from Hogan is the only fwd we have who is not carrying an injury, why would we trade him? Beautiful lead, and his kicking is improving with confidence. Do not sell. Tippett is an example of why Frawley is gold dust and must be retained.

Trengove simply can't run with McVeigh. We were supposed to have drafted an 'elite' runner in Trenners.

Draft Notes:

Trengove has all the right physical attributes - height, endurance and speed. He is possibly the best marking midfielder in the draft - the way he floats across packs at times is reminiscent of James Hird. His skills are sound and, watching him play, the thing you notice is his constant involvement in what is going on. He gets to the right places and, when he's there, usually has some sort of say in what happens with the ball. He's a smart, brave, perceptive player with the skills to finish things off.

Trengove dispelled any doubt over his speed off the mark at last month's state testing session in Adelaide. He ran 2.97 seconds in the 20-metre sprint to complement his awesome endurance - he's a former state-level cross country runner.

Ok, as I said, trade out one of our excess tall forwards. Fitzy has the least history at AFL. He has been impressive today. Take him out and put in a very good midfielder with Hogan, Clark, Watts and Dawes in the forward line.

It's simple IMO.

As i said it depends on Clarks Injury

It was actually the correct call. He didn't kick it to himself, can't dispose of it with a handball.

My understand is that it should then be a bounce on the top of the goal line.

He's our best (along side Watts) ATM. Watts maybe having a poor game in the forward line today, but he is a very good swingman. Down back toady he's been better.

It's a good problem to have but the club needs mids. They need to look at trading for a good mid. The draft and pre season draft will help, but our whole list is un balanced with talls. Dunn is not going to get us a player

He needed to kick it to himself to restart play first. This is why the rule was bought in. CORRECT DECISION

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
