Yep that's what I thought.

Said the other day if Shiel was to come home it would either be Carlton or Richmond.

why those 2?

As of Friday he hadn't told us 'no' so that's a glimmer....

I expect a few more answers early this week.

Maybe because of what DD36 said on the other thread: "His girlfriend is apparently living in Melbourne with his Dad who so happens to be Richmond's development coach."

Went to a function last night and spoke to a bloke who knows mfc board members.

We are offering pick 2 for Shiel but GWS are playing hard ball. The good news is that the file isn't closed yet.

Without going into specifics, my info comes from within GWS.

FWIW There are a few players up there who would like to come home but I don't think that is any different to any young players at other AFL clubs. I am not that confident that we will see Shiel in MFC colours.

Thanks lads,

I am hoping a deal can get done - glad we (the MFC) are following it up - hope we go hard and can get something done

Shiel is good, but does anyone else feel he is not worth pick 2?

by 2015 he would be our #1 mid. Can't say that about anyone in the 2013 draft class so, yes, he is worth it.

Absolutely he's worth it. Tough, has pace, aggressive, hurt factor by feet, backs himself. He's also got two years in the system.

Those that follow junior footy closely say he was a definite top 5 pick in his draft year and likely top 3, so why wouldn't he be worth pick 2 with two years development and runs on the board in a crap team ?

interesting, just posing the question. Pick 2 lands the best young midfielder in the country so who we trade for needs to be of this mould.

We are desperate for ready to go mids and don't really want to wait for Aish or Kelly to play 50 games before they can have a big impact on games, I think we should aim higher with our pick 2, which I think is what you are saying. At worst we will be getting a quality mid with our pick 2. With our results since 2006 and trade history in mind I think Shiel will be a good way to use our pick 2. But why would GWS want to give him up just to pick up another mid.... What do we have that they would want?

It depends how they rate others at the top of this year's draft pool. Say they really wanted Scharenberg. They have a lot of midfield talent, so trading for Pick 2 means they get to grab Boyd and Scharenberg.

Yes, I agree but everyone wants more than they have to give!

i have no idea about stuff.

How dare you have an opinion?

Can't you see that all those in the 'know' rate Shiel?

Fwiw, I watched the GWS replay last week and he hardly got a touch against us.....just sayin'

I know why their is so much love for Shiel, he is a very well rounded and gifted player. Say GWS wont let him go, would anyone be interested in getting our hands on Toby Greene? maybe packaged up with either,

a) pick 9

b) Bugg- turns 20 years 6 months old, 185cm 76kg

c) Tyson- 20 years 4 months old, 186cm, 81kg

d)Townsend- 20 years 3 months, 187cm, 84kg

Obviously, we would have to give a little bit back if we got options c or d. but trading pick 2 for Greene and pick 9 wouldn't be such a bad result, IMO.

I know what you mean, but from what I've heard about this draft and where we are currently/what we need it would be the best use of pick 2.

Also as is he would be our second best mid not bad for a 20 year old.

Would love to see if the club is proposing more than a straight swap, ie pick 2 + Sylvia compo for Shields and a better pick.

You're right, in terms of disposals that was his worst game all season.

PS, lucky you didn't see him in Round 4 against us!

Look, he might be worth Pick 2, but I'm not convinced.....I'm maligning the constant barrage of negative commentary if you dare have a debate.

Nah Greene lacks composure and his disposal is average, but he is a ball magnet and has a good work ethic.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
