very excited to see him play for us next year alongside the likes of Clark, Dawes and Watts as our tall forwards. Go Hogan!!!

How good was that clunk he took from Strauss's kick?

I wonder where he and Martin would rank if they were in this year's draft. Anyone who has some good info on this year draftees care to speculate?

I think Hogan would go one or two with Boyd. You would have to imagine if he is kicking bags of six in the VFL at under 18 level he would be kicking 10! Also big forwards are hard to come by and this year could have 2 very good ones. Luckily we already have him which is a good feeling so we can work on our midfield.

what are you, high? every club in the comp would consider that kid to be the biggest asset in football.. there are plenty of midfielders bouncing around, but an 18 year old key forward like that is pretty much unprecedented

I don't care what anyone says, to turn Scully's betrayal into getting Hogan, Viney and Toumpas in one go was an absolute masterstroke by those involved

Absolutely.

Add to that Mitch Clark whom we secured with the war chest we had up our sleeve to retain Scully. Dead set, we dodged a bullet on Scully given what we got in return.

Relevantly, no one seems to talk about him as being amongst the very elite mids in the competition - younger, lower picked mids are already making a greater impact than him.

And Hogan will be a superstar. It's obvious.

Love the way Hogan gave one of the defender the f'off elbow in the ribs after he marked. Got a touch of the arrogant about him...

What was even better is that was against Matthew Watson. Carltank listed player who was their first round draft pick (18) in the 2010 draft who's now in his third year and Hogan towled him up.

If I remember correctly he was dragged from Hogan in the end as he was exhausted and couldn't go with the Hulk. If Hogan's doing this to first round draft pick players who are in their 3rd year of AFL, just wait till he has another pre-season into him and he draws the oppositions 3rd defender as the two best will go to Clark and Dawes.

A lot to look forward to here!

And they replaced Watson with Duigan. I'm loving the hulk. A of glimpse into the future. Barry run and carry then a 50 metre bomb to Hogan who marks (and elbows/slaps the defender) and goals.

crappy generic music killed it

why not just leave it with the commentary?

They use that same god awful music for every highlights package. They need to change it.

Could we finally get a 100 Goalkicker in a season??

Great we have this kid, but keep a lid on it. He doesn't need to be singled out with his own highlight package, we see his goals in the VFL highlight package.

Any more comments like this and there will be hex on the kid...

Repeat after me people:

Non-Demon friend (trying to have a chat about footy and being nice enough not to mention this season) - Hey, that Hogan looks good! Will be good next year!

Dees fan: Yeah, he looks alright. Hopefully we can bring him at some point in 2014...Need to improve that midfield though.

CHANGE SUBJECT TO MIDFIELD ISSUES.

Let's not hex the kid.

Remember, this is Melbourne.

If we like something enough it will be taken from us.

I've run out of tissues and made a mess :(

Tissues? It's been that long since I've seen anything like that that I needed a garbage bag.

In the last 14 seasons there has been ONE 100+ haul, which was Buddy, with 102, in 2008

The game has changed

I think we need to accept we will probably never see 100 goals at the MFC

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
