Has been a positive in an awful year. While he hasn't dominated, he has shown some very impressive cameo's. Out of all our 'young' draftees he has shown the most IMO (except for Viney, maybe?)

Considering 12 games ago, 9 months, he was playing in the WA colts and has had no senior experience, he has adapted well to the speed and physicality of the AFL. Obviously he needs consistency, but he is hard at the ball and man.

Give him a full pre season who knows what he can be. Hopefully he will buck the trend and 'develop" rather than tease

Got a bit of mongrel too.

Guys like Kent, Matty Jones and Clisby will be great after another preseason, add Viney and Toumpas to that list, and the midfield begins to take shape.

Speed, hardness and skill is certainly a nice combination in a young player. With a boost in endurance over preseason I do hope he can improve and then continue to improve as the years go on.

He attempted a hell of a hangar on the weekend as well. Would've made Howie proud, unfortunately he got nowhere near taking it!

Hoping he could have a standout game soon and get our first rising star nomination...

Toump and Viney our only other chances, and with Jack a while off...

I had $5 on him to win (pre-season). Might have been a bit speculative in hindsight.

Plenty to like about Kent. Speed, aggression and a decent left foot. Under the right coaching and leadership he could become a terrific little player for the MFC over the long haul. One of the few good news stories in 2013.

Would love for him to get thrown in the center bounce for a couple of 5 minute burst and play him on some gun medfielders.. would be great learning experience.

He played on Sam Mitchel for a short time. I know this because I loved his confidence in taking him on and running right past after taking a mark.

Just saying, but has anybody else noticed how good Neeld's draft picks have been, including rookies??

Were they Neeld's or Vineys? Also the recycled players from Afl clubs are probably fails at this stage.

As Neeld said, was he supposed to draft 14 new kids? They moved on that many, they had to get more from somewhere. They got the best mature players they could. A case could be made for not getting rid of the players he did, but his job was to cut out the cancer and that's what he did. I said at the time that he shouldn't have been going so hard at Pedo, but plenty of others said he would be a great pickup, so it's not like he was a known spud. I seem to recall someone saying that Gillies was a great athlete and would be playing on the wing for us this year with his speed and skills. I really like what Rodan has been doing around the club if not on the field. Byrnes, not so much. He seems to have folded under the extra pressure.

You mean Viney's who may or may not have been under direction from Jason Taylor.

But yes I do like them. I like the focus he explained before the draft that was looking for competitors with the right attitude and who played footy that way. Toumpas isn't the hardest bloke going around but you get the feeling he has a dip. Same with Matty Jones and Terlich they are out there playing footy the right way.

I think Rodan is fine he's obviously giving more off field than on. Byrnes it might be injury or it might be that he's passed it because he started well then fell in a heap.

But Gillies and Pedersen have been disasters. Especially considering we missed out on Jack Hannath because we added Gillies and Pedersen who both look like poor athletes so you worry about their training habits and commitment to elite standards anyway.

I'm presuming you don't call Matt Jones or Dean Terlich "young"? They are a considerable distance ahead of Kent in terms of what they have shown this year.

Nothing against Kent, I like him.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
