WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

The Horn has finally been blown

Eeewww! Too much information!

If we play any sort of finals in the next 3 years then we need to put Peter Jackson's name on something permanent, this is incredible news and a stunning coup, i for one will be spending up big on membership and merchandise next year.

Roos was asked about someone called "Ray" coming on board, who was being refered to?

He's referring to the Horn of Gondor if I'm not mistaken.

Ray McLean leading teams I think

thanks

I clearly remember the absolute despair I felt on the days that followed Norm Smith's sacking, and again when Barass announced that he was moving to Carlton ...... and try as I might I can't erase the vivid memories of 186 and all that has followed. For me, these are the lowest points in a very barren 50 years for my beloved Demons, but despite it all, I have clung blindly to the hope that the latest 'five year plan' would be the one to take us back to the top where we belong. Sadly, I must now concede most of my optimism over the journey has been viewed through 'rose coloured glasses'. But today things have changed! I now honestly believe that I can view the future through 'Roos coloured glasses' ...... and they are entirely different to the ones I have left behind. Welcome to the Melbourne Football Club Paul Roos. I have discarded blind optimism and replaced it with well founded faith.

I like the way this bloke works.....already !! :)

You said similar about Neeld.

However, as there is more love in the air today than Valentine's Day, B59, I'm more than happy to say. "I agree with you post"!!!

I think he was talking about the party tonight to celebrate

Red and blue polo suits him very well indeed

I'm sure we had leading teams involved with our club when Dean Bailey was coaching.

What a way to finish a great week of sporting results.

Liverpool beat ManU, Boston just beat the Yankees in extra innings and the cherry on top is hope returning to the MFC in the form of Paul Roos.

Up there with 87,88 and 2000 as highlights of my 48 odd years of supporting this club, we may have a future to look forward to after all.

Welcome aboard Paul Roos. Like Deeoldfart I have witnessed too many false dawns that have ultimately ended in failure and humiliation. I know I should be more wary and circumspect given our fortunes over the past 50 years, and yet for some reason I'm walking taller today. I guess that like most on here I'm a sucker for a good resurrection. Thanks Paul.

Getting Roos has just made 2013 a better year than 1981, here's to mvoing forward still can't quite believe it

A phallic symbol if ever I've seen one.

Yes I do, I have stated that before, if it was Leigh Mathews, then I would be doing cartwheels.

Roos inherited quite a healthy playing list from Eade, he had two bloody good assistants in Lyon and Longmire, a lot of the clubs were struggling, West Coast was really the only challenger, yes he changed footy by having role players, but he then got out when a rebuild was on the cards and has been away from the 'frontline' for a while......I will reserve my judgement

Have you had your exit interview, Saty?

I'm a bit like that too, I've always thought that there would be a flag just around the corner, then all of a sudden you get older and start to run out of corners.

Very impressed with Paul Roos and very impressed with Peter Jackson, they know what's wrong with the club and have a plan to rectify it.

Does all this mean we're an actual team now?

It means we're an actual CLUB.

still struggling with the 2 years factor

It's a carrot to convince the best assistants to sign on, and to keep the board and admin honest.

Don't stress.

There's a thread somewhere on Demonland asking whether 2013 was our worst season ever. Not any more.

This is bigger than the first moon landing.

It's now time for me to drain that bottle of scotch.

Thank you Peter Jackson.

I found it pretty interesting that he was so candid in his desire to keep Watts and Sylvia, on the day of him being appointed. Pretty sure he brought it up without being prompted as well, but could be mistaken. This was despite him being alot more reserved when the issue of turning over the list came up, with him wanting to "get into the club, see how they train etc". I think that early vote of confidence will go a long way to keeping both players. For those who want them to stay.

He also guaranteed that whoever took over from him would see success. He didn't define "success", but the confidence was refreshing, and exciting.

I think it referred to the Season 13...and that's over...this is now season 14 :)

Nothing wrong with Romsey.. Lets play nice now...

I hope the MFC has thrown Roos a little sweetener. Jazza will give Tammi and the kids a free, 5 day tour of the Otway’s with stop offs at all the Colac & Districts footy grounds. Who needs Bhutan when you have Forest, Irrewarra-Beeac, and Alvie.

followed by a scenic tour of romsey, burwood and the gatwick. now that should clinch the deal

DC comparing the beautiful Otways and their footy grounds with Jazza as host to Romsey, Burwood and the Gatwick is almost as silly as setting someone on fire on a mad monday!

ok, in a bid to stretch this thread further

1/yes tammi was offered the privelage of a GRAND tour of the otways

2/she dicided I could teach her boys to milk cows instead. job done btw

3/Otway districts ground is currently under water so I showed her the pony club and said that's the footy ground luv

4/the word Romsey was never mentioned over the past week. explains r"oosy signing

5/the boys wont make farmers or footballers

6/Essendon are stuffed you beauty

7/have got a real bit of news.spoke to MITCH HONEYCHURCH eastern under18s,and Vermont said that boyd comes across as a fathead,BUT in real life genuine and an absolute must pick up for any club.

he also said lewis taylor was not bad either

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
