I also can't believe that our players asked to meet him if they didn't think he was going to coach us, and secondly that he would agree if he didn't think he would be coaching them.

He does strike me as having the players' welfare at the forefront of his mind. He wouldn't want to play with the players' emotions like that, and he also wouldn't waste his time meeting a bunch of nobodys if he didn't want to reassure them that he is coming and that they should stick around.

possibly, but maybe the players wanted to meet him to prove them selves to him and show they are worth coaching. That could be one of the main catalysts in his change of guard.

Anyone else notice Roos' body language towards Richard Colless (guest speaker)?

IMO it was a look of utter dislike.

The only reason Paul might be waiting on Tammi is so they can present as a unit to the throngs awaiting...like a Royal Family on the balcony

we the little folk can pay homage etc.

There is NO way in this world it would have been left to this juncture to discuss with the family...That would have been done ages ago.. " Tammi, darling...what do you think, me back in coaching.....and in Melbourne ?"

"Paul, thats fine, anywhere but that bogan town Brisbane !!"

Kids?? your thoughts....." Melbourne ? Uni places ?? Whats the car sponsor dad ?? " yeah...thats wicked Dad :)

This was done ( started ) ages ago and agreed to in principal also. Its paper dancing etc now. The "announcment" is all stage managed, bound to be.

This isnt made up on the run stuff, hes far too methodical for that.

Craig said after the game, he knew of the meeting, but did not know what went on it in...

Might have been told during the game then, he as asked before the game by Healy and Danny Frawley, and he said that he didn't know about it...

I'm sure it's two ways, but why would Roos bother if he had no interest in the first place, he'd know it would cause a media circus, he'd know the mfc would feel it was a done deal, it's a very very good sign

You really think our stupid players went "hey, lets totes talk to Roos and show him how rad we are so he comes and coaches us?"

I bet PJ set this up, in an effort to keep the morale up.

I mean how would the players even be able to set this up? They can't even kick a football!

I wonder what went wrong for him in Sydney, if he doesnt like Colless and things have soured up there as he alluded to earlier in the program

I wonder if he wants to coach Melbourne as will be hellbent on resurrecting us to a powerhouse and to finally have the Melbourne vs Sydney rivalry that Aussie Rules has always needed and so he can stick it up those who he has soured on as well as going down as officially the greatest coach of all time having resurrected the biggest basket case ever

Exciting times

not saying he didnt have interest and i to, agree it is a very good sign, but him meeting them should not be seen as a tease to the players if he ends up saying no, as they asked to meet him and put their case to him. which on evidence seems to have done anything but harm to our chances.

Nothing but 100% convinced he is coaching us next year after watching that!

Waiting for the wife to come back is a ruse..............he knows, the wife knows, and PJ knows he is in, it will be fine tuning the deal, and organising the announcement at the front of their minds at present!

Bring on 2014!!!!

theres probably 10 reasons why both club, & poss coach, & the AFL don't want to announce, just Yet... til next week.

.... also as we know, anything can happen when loved ones are O/S around Asia, & if something horrible happened, you wouldn't expect the person to continue with contract.

also euebrows possibly wants us to wait until he's finished with the the election, so he doesn't steal our limelight... also there may be other assistants etc, who aren't clear of their duties yet, & we want to maximise the Xposure.

I'm also on tenterhooks, but mostly about other more serious stuff than just this.... IMO this is over the line.

I think he is waiting for all the marbles to fall into place.

He obviously has told PJ these are the assistants I need.

Get it done and I'll sign.

It makes sense that if he has to restructure a club from the ground up, he knows exactly the sort of person he wants.

He wont sign until it's all in place.

Now some of these key people may be in place, but he wants to see the last one or two.

This is probably why PJ has suspended further interviews. So he can tie up the loose strings.

I hightly doubt it was actually them who asked, i mean have they met with Eade or Williams?

I know he said that was the case but really?

Am i the only one that takes him on face value???

Probably, i refuse to believe he wouldn't know where his family stand by now, that's just crazy talk

I love Demonland.

I know when my family is overseas without me, I hate making huge life changing decisions when the possibility exists they may get caught up in a completely unpredictable extreme weather event.

This is my nomination for post of the year.

I believe so, he doesn't need to speak to them, he has their respect before he has even walked in the door.

for him to come, the entire club needs to be proactive about getting it done, this an example of that. The leadership group need to show him they are serious about becoming a good football side,

i'd pay his salary to be that fly! but if it happens need to give credit to the group, they must have shown maturity and a thirst to succeed to get him pumped up. We should thank neeld as it was surely shannon burnes who convinced him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
