I don't think anyone is expecting dramatic on-field improvement next year just because Roos is there. I for one expect us to be very much bottom 4.

I'm expecting dramatic on-field improvement.

Exactly.

if Port can come from the cellar to the finals with Hinkley we can do the same with Roos and co.

Mind you i cant see Port sustaining what they have, whereas with Roos we will be set up to be successful long term

As I read this thread, I literally have a tear in my eye. It feels like my soul is finally returning to my body, which has been ripped apart by this bloody club for too long.

Where there was darkness, there is now light - so much light, I feel like we're 10 metres away from the bloody sun.

I can't believe this is happening. I am just so bloody pumped.

Thank you PJ. The first pint of scotch will be in your honour!

Your a clown with no footy Knowledge, we have no midfield and Port did.

It's not Roos alone, it's the domino effect that comes with signing him.

Watch pieces like Walsh, Ling, Simpson, Tudor, Stone, Kenelly all fall into place shortly thereafter.

(Not saying all will, but a fair chunk of that).

The only shame is Craig.

I have a lot of love for that crazy old bloke with the short shorts and long socks.

Just a heart beat mate, the clubs won 2 games, all Paul offers is hope and thats what we all desperately need.

Thats been said since 2008, you bag the hell out of JW just like i did, and then your in his corner because of PR, personally hes trade bait and why change that because of a new coach, Taylor Adams for JW, get it done PR.

That's what I said a heart beat. It's more then we have had in a long time. No we are not top 4 but Roos gives us legitimacy.

For the life of me, I cannot understand those who want to pour cold water on this. Great news is great news. I'm sure they're will be plenty of opportunities to have a whine down the track. But ffs, let's have some cheer when it's been so lacking. Go Dees.

I'd expect a substantial improvement from the dismal Mark Neeld "it is what it it is" days... but certainly wouldn't expect any miraculous climbs from the bottom 4 until we get a midfield.. and that won't happen overnight. We're a long way from even the middle of the road sides at present + Roos gameplan and mantra's will take time.

One thing next year will mean all bad results are purely on the players. Roos has the runs on the board. He could easily explain at a press conference that the playing group are spuds and we will all nod and agree as well as the media. Are you sure you want that Mr Watts? The days of being unsure if our coach is any good are over.

And removing the 'coach is no good' excuse may well be the making of some of our players.

Look at Freo today.

12 of their best out, arguably the second best coach in the AFL, yet they got smacked by a cellar dweller.

Roos will bring respect, reputation and leadership to the group, until a few drafts have passed under the bridge.

Neeld could never shape that intangible, or was poorly advised on how to achieve it.

Nathan Jones would still play just as well if I was coaching him. That is his character. Watts wants to hide behind not being developed right and looked after. There might be something to it but 2014 is the time for no more hiding.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
