GAME DAY - Round 11

Recommended Posts

One word = turnovers.

Our kicking inside 50 is so bad, all the hard through the middle of the ground comes to nothing, as we kick anywhere except to the benefit of our forwards. And then, on the turnover, all our players are in attacking and not defensive position.

I wouldn't pay out on Watt's efforts today. He has used his pace and run through a few packs in straight lines, getting through 3 and four players. Look elsewhere for the reason for our probable loss.

Dunn in particular - horrible.

Fitzy look way out of his league.

Inside 50 kicking by Toumpas, Evans, M Jones and Kent.

Toumpas lacks penetration with his kicking, he has been better today but that effort on Swan was unforgivable.

Yep, classic mistake from a kid...needed to stay between Swan and the goals but opened them up for him.

Kent has a nice bit of mongrel about him, classic move hitting Maxwell in the leg when attempting to get the ball. Loved the tackle on the wing dumping Blair and standing over him. Some good run and chase, we need to get games into him and he will really pay us back.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why watts had a free paid AGAINST him for holding in the goal square when he was doing his best impression of the angel of the north?

NFI. Normally as soon as you turn your back on the ball and grapple the defender has a free against.

Love his grunt and effort. Love him standing over the Pies playing he tackled over the line on the far side of the ground. But his kicking is poor in general play. He misses targets when they are easy to hit.

Blease 10 kicks,6 turnovers,like Magner he can't kick.

Yep, really poor. He gets the ball, looks up and sees an target, settles (all the right things to do) and then.... kicks horribly. I just don't get it. He is even chasing and tackling.

If it's not Trengove's pace or Hogan's set-shot routine it's Toumpas and a lack of penetration. Chip on shoulder much??? I often see your name attached to young players flaws.

His effort on Swan wasn't great but his kicking is sublime. Did you miss the bullet pass to Watts in the first?

Anyone watching the telecast, Luke Darcy mentioned that someone had firmed for the Head of Football position. Did anyone hear who he was talking about?

My bet is Tom Harley.

Some of our new boys have been great today. Terlich, M. Jones and Kent. I feel safe with the ball in Terlich's hands.

Boys and girls, I'm at the game, first quarter in behind our goals, second quarter watched from hff. First off, I will say that we have been man on man all over the ground at most times. Even towards the end of this quarter. Ill mention the umpires being maggots, but that is a direct insult to maggots. Our effort is very high. Our run and spread is also very high. The thing about afl footy, is when you run and spread offensively and you turn the footy over heading into f50, you leave the back half of the ground as wide open as a bad girls knees. What's shown is exactly that, 4 or 5 times that half we went forward and turned it straight over at our CHF, and they went straight through us. No coaching can help change bad decision making upon forward 70m entries.

Ill give you a full run down later, but watts has run hard and played well, but jeez we burn him with disposal going to him...

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
