as mentioned in my last blog suggestion sylvia as captain obviously stirred up some emotions.lets go back to 186 pts loss to geelong back in 2011

,the only player smiling like a hyhena was colin.the week later he was dropped to the reserves next thing it was reported in the herald-sun i don,t know

where my future is....follows an extension to his playing contract until the end of 2013.this guy with the so called silky skills and with a ton of playing

experience is more of a disappointment than not.it is the dees fault the same can be said about other players.why not challenge colin by making him the captain

and make him accountable.

why do the dees seem to get it wrong re players pick up or delete;- consider the following

(1) scott thompson becomes a star at adelaide

(2) nic nat a star at west coast

(3) ollie vines plays more than toupas

(4) collingwood ruckman,ex swan plays in 2 premiership sides he was ex melbourne

(5) neil aldelaide,s de list sellar neil craig at melbourne pick up sellar

(6) the premature retirements of rusell robertson, yze and delisting bruce.

what about picking up players that have grunt i,e o'haplin, thorton.

(1) scott thompson becomes a star at adelaide - He chose to leave us. Nothing to do with the club

(2) nic nat a star at west coast - Indications were that he would not stay had we taken him

(3) ollie vines plays more than toupas - Wines is already physically ready for AFL. Toumpas has far more skill but will take time to get his body there.

(4) collingwood ruckman,ex swan plays in 2 premiership sides he was ex melbourne - Again, chose to leave, although in this case it appears to have been a rift with the coach.

(5) neil aldelaide,s de list sellar neil craig at melbourne pick up sellar - He's there as a stop-gap utility who was ready to come straight into the side.

(6) the premature retirements of rusell robertson, yze and delisting bruce. - Bruce wasn't delisted, he left. Robbo and Yze might have had another year in them, might have flopped.

what about picking up players that have grunt i,e o'haplin, thorton.

You follow a comment about him being a disappointment with him being captain. That doesn't say enough? Close thread please

This doesnt even make sense. Sylvia could never captain anything except himself

LOL you lost me when I read your title. This idea would sink quicker than the titanic if executed.

You have to understand that WAYNE's a little backward.

An interesting concept

However if the captaincy was used to inspire performance we would need to have every player as captain.

I reckon there are other ways to inspire performance and unfortunately the current coaches and administrators do not seem to have the recipe.

Sylvia and many others with previously recognised ability and silky skills need to be energised and inspired to work for themselves, their teammates, their supporters, to ensure their own future and that of the club

There are fundamental Human Resource management issues and practice which need to be considered.

I may be biased having trained and worked in that capacity and would not claim to have all the answers but I do at times see some practices sadly lacking.

Sylvia isn't really into that stuff. He's more of a roll your own car type of guy .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
