Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What happens if we beat the Bummers?

Will we celebrate and say we knew Neeld could do it?

Were the players just foxing against port to lead Essendon into a false sense of security?

Was this our plan all along??

Seriously though if we beat the dons what will be running through the minds of us at demonland?

It just means we'll get smashed by West Coast the week after and then we're back to square one...

It's really a no win situation.

We always seem to have to lose badly to get any motivation to play proper footy.

I for one will be stoked, and will celebrate.

The fact that it will be another win provoked by a gutless performance the week before will make it a little less enjoyable, but enjoyable none-the-less.

It's the 20 weeks afterwards that will show where we're at.

Nice thought but YOU can't be serious ??? I am sort of ashamed to say this but... Julia Gillard has more chance of being elected on September 14th, We may beat the Bombers but I will give you this much, you haven't said when ???

If we do get up this weekend and beat Essendon (which i'm not holding my breath for) I will be more worried about our players being able to switch it 'on' and 'off' when they feel like they have something to play for. We did this two years ago! Get smashed one week so we had something to play for the next week, have a win then a few more losses until we had something to again 'play for'. How about just playing for the jumper, or maybe the supporters, or your team mates. Anything will do.

Amazing. So now, even a win is a bad thing.

I know. It friggin sucks.

It just feels like we may get up for this week due to the external pressure, but then it will be back to weak efforts again... Ughhhh...

I will be F^&%ing amazed.

It would depend on what the win looked like.

I've been burnt before. I will still be staying away until we show something more than beating the team who has been acknowledged as our bunnies for the last two years. I might get slightly interested if we give the Weagles a run for their money.

Nothing happens except we move on and do what other sides do start looking at the following week. To many times before we have done this and just falling back into a heap. It should not take embarrasment or public heat to motivate you as a player

I'll say good. Now do it again against WC.

And then I'll say good now do it again. Etc.

We are trying to build a winning culture and attitude and I'm afraid the only way to do that is by winning, winning consistently and winning well.

Not just by firing up here and there because they have copped an earful from the supporters, coaches and media,

So lets win, and then bloody do it again.

It's going to be a massacre to the tune of god knows how many. But in the almost impossible event that it isn't, and the lingering doubt in the mind's of Essendon players about our unbeaten little run somehow gets us over the line, I'll enjoy it. Christ knows it's not often we get to enjoy a win. An actual win.

God knows what "us on demonland" will be thinking, but I sure as hell won't be over-reacting to a win over Essendon, in the same way that I'm not prepared to over-react to one horrible loss against Port Adelaide. At this stage I just regard the Port loss as another (albeit unpleasant) step in the journey. For me, mid-season (at the earliest) and late season are the appropriate times for a serious stock-take.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
