Gonzo comment at its best.

I'm not the one who's attacking Neeld, the footy department and the Board. You are.

So, self evidently, it's the likes of YOU who need to step up if you are not satisfied with what they are doing/trying to do.

Surely this is totally bloody obvious. The thought processes underlying so many posts here are simply ridiculous.

FWIW, I'm talking about cash flow Dr Bozo.

Cop a tip - check out what s 95A of the Corporations Act says about the importance of cash flow to the viability of an entity.

The effect of not renewing memberships is the ultimate in throwing the baby out with the bath water.

And no - I'm not happy about what we had to endure yesterday. In fact, I'm not happy about a lot of things about our list.

But I don't think that's all Neeld's fault. Rivers aside, I'm not sure any of the list from the end of 2011 would've had any positive impact on the result yesterday.

Think you missed my point, the part you highlighted was directed at Jack Watts and his comment, not at you.

As much as it might feel good to get your rant off your chest by sending an email of complaint, how much more infuriated will you be when you get a response along the lines of "Your feedback is important to us....". It will just make you angry all over again.

Yesterday's effort was awful. Insipid and boring. The sort of game where you wish you had brought a book to read to pass the time, because the game isn't keeping your interest. But when you have 7 new debs in a team, what do you expect? The team has been substantially recast, and that sort of thing takes time to gel. But who else could they have played after the cleanup.

Rubbish excuse, Port had 6 new players it didn't seem to harm them so much.

While drafting an email to McLardy et al demanding an explanation for yesterday's humiliation and what he/they propose doing about it, I was also reading the“Perspective” thread where Biffen put forward some quite singular ideas of protest. It caused me to think that many others have also, or are, thinking of how to best voice their disapproval of yesterday's fiasco.

It occurred to me that it was worthy of a thread to raise the issue of a general protest from us - the faithful.

I am suggesting a concerted protest to MFC.

So get your pens and typewriters out and bombard the MFC with our displeasure. If each ‘lander spread the word, surely we could rack up hundreds of emails.

The club needs to hear first hand that we, whose hard earned pays quite a proportion of salaries etc, are really pizzed.

If that doesn’t work maybe Biffen’s proposal for round 7 response is necessary.

Think an email is a good idea, but don't ask for a response, in fact state you don't want a personal response. I would much prefer the staff at the club concentrate on supporting the team, than writing individual responses to every email they receive.

Brock got out because we would not meet his contractual demands, anyone who thinks he left because of the poor culture has a lower IQ than he does.

Agree with rest.

Brock got out because it was too far to travel from his home (in Altona I think?) to Casey. Or at least that's what he said then. He has since proved to be an unrealiable sod who put his old playing mates and supporters right in the poo for no reason other than spite. (He left Melbourne because of tanking? Really? Yet he went to Carlton to play alongside Krueser and Judd who wouldn't be there but for games Carlton 'lost'? Gimme a break). So was he lying then or is he lying now? You can't put any faith in anything he says because you don't know when he is lying and when he is telling the truth. Scum.

I don't think we would be telling them anything they don't know.

To protest seems a bit pointless to me, but I don't blame you really.

I think the booing yesterday had more effect than a few emails would.

Brilliantly said. 100% agree.

We do need a line in the sand moment right now. Seriously.

I don't care if we lose 12 players to suspension and they cop $100,000 in fines. Get out there and just whack someone. Throw Essendon off not by playing, but by running into them, going the extra oomph in the tackle, making the sneaky jab in the ribs behind play. Play dirty. Start a melee. Then start another, and another. At least show you're willing to fight in the jumper, if you're not willing to play in it.

You have got to be kidding. This is just more apologist rubbish.

Let me guess.

OOH hello sir. I'm just a pathetic paying member and I'm just wondering about the game against PA. I am a little unhappy but i guess we were a bit unlucky. Anyway don't bother replying sir.

I agree. They wouldn't give a fig about emails and phone calls.

Vote with your feet. Don't show up. It's the only way when the powers that be have this level of denial.

At the same time we are killing our club ourselves - like cutting of your finger as a form of protest. Sadly, in someways, our players mirror the general perception of our supporter base.

What do we do then?

Tempted to hang a banner from the Olympic, probably will lose it to security.

I am so so heart broken by the game yesterday - but...

Round 11 remains my deadline for the team to show me they are moving in the right direction, as much as I want to punish someone for the drivel shown yesterday we still need to stick fast as a team and club, one game is not the end, even if it felt like it.

Neeld did not make the last seven years, this is his year and he gets at least half a season to show where it is at. Its not like we can do anything else.

And I for one think with free agency, that salaries should become performance based, i.e. get rid of the 95% minimum payment threshold

Give me a break Sue. Do you want me to write the response for them? Don’t be an apologist for the club and don’t try the reductio

ad absurdum (we are sacking the coach) line with me. What I want is a genuinely personal response to the specific issues that I shall raise in my email that convinces me that McLardy understands my concerns.

Further, the point of the thread is mass protest – be a part of it– don’t lie down.

sorry BbO, but I'm not being an apologist for the club. I just don't see how any organization could respond individually to any of the points raised by you and others in this thread which would presumably be in our individual emails to the club.

In any case, I know what our response would be to such a response, no matter what they said. We'd say: "we've had enough talk, do something on the field for a bloody change". So what's the point of expecting an individual reply - we'd just be wasting someone's time who hopefully would have something more useful to do than stroke our egos.

Protesting myself - I just won't hold it against the club if I don't get a personal reply. We've got a lot more important things to hold against the club at the moment than their PR skills.

FFS stick to the point. (1) I want to protest to the club over the shite I was subjected to yesterday.(2) I want the the club to answer the concerns that I intend raising with them.

What is so difficult with that?

I find it astounding how many people believe the defecation that emerges from his mouth.

I think I've got this.

We tell Vlad that HE can keep the difference between the 95% and what our guys are actually worth.

Imagine how quickly the Comission meeting would be called.

I'm going to hold my breath till I turn blue, and if that doesn't work, I'll kick and stomp my feet, then I'll start throwing things around the room, then scream with my fingers in my ears.... That should work.

Can we, as supporters, be any more stupid & knee jerk reactionary?

Pardon me Mr High and [censored] Mighty, if I may..

22,000 to an opening home match in which we got mauled to the tune of 10+ goals by a younger, more inexperienced team tipped for bottom four, lead by a coach undertaking his first game, on the back of the single worst season I've seen.

If the state of this team and this club right now doesn't alarm you, nothing will. Some of us are sick of being the competition's punch line and Sunday became a breaking point. If you can't understand it, don't attempt to.

You guys are off your head, writing letters won't help.

What do you all expect to achieve by writing letters? The sacking of the coach?

Don't worry about that, the media will be breathing down his throat if we lose to Essendon.

Mark Neeld already has a target on his head.

Writing to a board that is half the problem won't achieve anything.

I've never liked Neeld since he appointed his captains.

How the hell, how on earth, for the life of god do you appoint Jack Trengove captain?

Does Neeld know nothing about leadership, absolutely nothing.

If Trengove isn't the most passive, play his roles type of bloke we got - then i'll be damned.

Trengove is the furtherest thing from a leader I have seen and he got appointed coming off the back of not getting a kick.

Good way to reward players.

I have NO problems with Grimes, none... He isn't captain material though, far from.

I know, someone has to do it... I get that and he does have the heart the size of phar lap.

But we need a captain to let these spuds know that they have to lift... Someone the boys listen to, because they sure as hell don't listen to Neeld.

Mitch Clark would make a good captain, Jack Viney is a born leader.

I struggle to think of another bloke on our list that could do this job.

Is it that hard to get the captaincy right..

Perhaps I will write a letter after all.

And.. I agree with Brock and Scully, as much as I hate them, they have been proven to be correct.

Nathan Jones says hello.

And to be honest Grimes was gutsy on the weekend, I thought he played a great captains game.

The jury is still out on Trenners for me.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
