Sam Blease Out for 4 to 6 Weeks

Anyone heard anything regarding his ankle? really hope its not serious as i think he could be real important player for us and step up a level. i could see him pushing into the midfield this.

Anyway just thought if anyone knew anything. thought the club would have something by now.

I thought he looked worried when it happened in the tackle.

He was lucky to get his leg out from under his body.

I think the club will err on the side of caution to make sure it recovers.

I'm sure there is some mental scars left over from his last injury which set him back 2+ years.

Was it the same leg he broke? That may have played on his mind, if it was. Hope it's nothing too much

Damn!

Sh*t result. He had a good preseason, looked prime up until the injury too. He definitely looked worried when he pulled his leg out quickly from under himself after he was tackled. Commentators noted it as well. It's best to take a cautious approach considering his history. Let's just hope it doesn't hamper him long term and it's not another never-ending dreaded 4-6.

Bugger! Poor guy has had a great pre-season and now it's ruined!

The dreaded 4-6

Nick Smith #2?????

FFS. Can't take a trick this club.

Feel for young Sam first real pre season looked fit and firing. There is a lot of fitness lost in 4 - 6 weeks.

I assume that he will still be able to do non weight bearing exercise with a high sprained ankle (whatever that is). Lots of bikes and swimming should help him maintain his fitness base i would have thought. Can a fitness expert confirm or shoot down that theory.

FFS. Can't take a trick this club.

Yep, we're on our knees. And all because of one sprained ankle.

Chill guys. The Ox did his knee in the '95 Pre season. That was Gut Wrenching.

The kid sprained his ankle. Coupla Weeks he will jog and run again.

The amount of 426's we have received means that every time there's a post with this subject, i'm never sure whether to take it seriously.

Unbelievable really. You just have to laugh these days.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
