Don't worry about that, it won't be long now and I don't even notice the difference to my pay as it is.

Funny how sometimes you can tell the posters that have been educated... and those that haven't.

Some of the richest men on the planet dont have educations you obnoxious human.

Watts is finally looking a lot bigger and if we keeps that beered he might actually intimate the opposition.

The round the thighs tackling stood out in the photos.

Selwood is going to have problems milking a free from one of those tackles.

...and no more easy kicks to his brothers mob at WC.

I'm well aware of that.

But it doesn't mean not having had a formal education somehow makes someone smarter, or even puts them on equal footing.

I don't equate intelligence with wealth.

I know some f***ing stupid people with a lot of money and influence.

I sincerely doubt that.

Although some of the most obnoxious men on the planet are so rich they have become inhuman.

I'm sure he's talking about a formal education, but it makes little difference.

He's resorting to insults and going off topic because he's out of his depth.

You don't need an education to see that.

Sounds a bit rude. I'm not sure Watts wants to that close to his opponents. Perhaps his team-mates?

Beered: noun; foam that occurs on facial hair after consumption of strong lager.

Sorry Chook, didn't know I had to be an A+ speller to write a comment on a demonland forum.

lfR,

Most of us don't have the where with all to buy massively expensive L series lenses and what ever the equivalent Nikon offering is. BH and I will have to make do with perfectly good general purpose lenses as I assume that neither of us are proffesional photo journalists.

Besides, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable walking around with a massive white lens on my camera.

Yes...I blew my budget getting the Canon EOS7D so when it came to a "big" lens, I opted for the relatively cheap Sigma 120 - 400mm 1:4.5 - 5.6... it does the job just fine for me. Can't wait to get down to Melbourne with my son for round 1 so we can get along to the Friday training where I can fire some shots in anger :-)

I think there's room for both... if Watts nails a few of those below the hip tackles in the right way, "intimate" could become very intimidating.

yeah i was supporting BH saying that lens will fit the job perfectly. Its those pesky indoor sports which screw you if you don't take the hit to the hip-pocket

I shudder to think what those 500-600mm+ lenses cost

lfr, That's OK , I thought you were having a go at our lenses. If you want a 500 to 600 L series super zoom it will cost you around $12,000. I'll make do with by sub $500 general purpose lens.

Yeah not having a go at all here. I know its an expensive game. I was lucky enough to get paid for a few events which paid for all my equipment, and now i just take shots here and there for fun.

+1 for Smugmug, it's a great website! Good stuff

I wish I could afford the 5D mark III, but that's a while off unfortunately... give it a year or two and the price will come down to something closer to my budget. Back in the day when I was studying graphic design (albeit unsuccessfully) we used Pentax Spotmatics for our photography assignments...trial and error was not nearly as much fun then when you had to wait for the film to be developed :-) - I have actually been thinking about dragging out my old Nikkomat and doing some film photography.

Back in my day you could buy a camera that would last you a lifetime. Today with digital, your camera will become obsolete within 3-4 years and pretty much worthless on the second hand market. The upshot is that camera's are dirt cheap in comparison. The rate of technological advances and sensor design makes updating your equipment regularly almost mandatory. My first digital SLR cost me $5000 for the body only and today sits in a cupboard and would be lucky to fetch $ 200 bucks on Ebay. I only have one piece of advice in regards to buying camera's ( I own about twenty, including 4 now retired Digital SLR's} Buy the best lenses you can afford. Good lenses never become obsolete. A good lens can make a ordinary camera excellent and a poor lens can make a fantastic camera appear ordinary.

JM,

I assume that you are viewing on a mobile device. I have the same problem trying to view them on my phone. It is a bit clunky and not intuative. There is an awesome Smugmug mobile app that allows for great veiwing by me but I'm not sure that I can set up a link for guests to utilise. The following link is to a gallery of a short 14 frame sequence from Monday which has the gallery style set to journal. The problem is that it is restricted to 10 images per page. after which you need to select the next page. It seems to be a good style for viewing unconnected images on a mobile, however, viewing sequential images in it does not give you the feeling of watching a slow-mo sequence. The slidewhow on a desktop is best for that. Anyway, have a look at it and let me know how it works. I'll leave it as it is until Thursday and then play around with the settings to see if there is a better gallery style for mobile devices. In the mean time, if there are any Smugmug experts out there, how do you scroll to the next image on a moble device with a lightbox gallery style?

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
