How others perceive us

It gets better. I've thrown my plastic cup beer at a Carlton boy's face.

I've been banned from taking my little cousins to the footy. Collateral damage as I like to think of it :)

I see a natural progression here. Your aim for season 2013 should be to main an opposition supporter. Preferably, Essendon. Second Filth ( but beware if they spit their dentures at you) . Third Tiggers.

By the sounds if it, it's a wonder you haven't been banned from the footy full stop. You sound like a nutcase.

Essendon are always in my sights. Their red sash is like a flag to me, it brings out a feral side, like it does with a bull. I guess it's 2000 still haunting me. Surprisingly I haven't had too many problems with many other supporters. I got into a verbal argument with a morbidly obese member of the doggies cheersquad once. He told me to shut up- I told him his club would have more supporters if he didn't eat them all. Fun times.

It situations like this that make me regret the outlawing of glass from footy matches.

If I'm left alone stuff usually goes alright. I've been asked to move a couple of times with a warning of being ejected. Just have to batter the eyelids nasher and it's all good :)

I've settled down a lot over the last couple of years, my dad finally started to sit with me towards the latter half of last season after I promised him I'd be good.

Round 18 last year against the Kangas I lost him at half time, got a txt from him saying he'd meet me at the car after the game- my retro chicken gate put downs were an embarrassment to myself and him.

There's hope for you Sloon. I won't even sit next to my daughter at the dinner table.

Good lord, Sloony, please wear a name badge to the footy in future so I know not to let my 5yr old wander into your path in the event of a Sloonatic fight.

Lol actually it sounds worse than it was. He wasn't a boy, he was in his 20's. I have calmed down a lot my father sent me to a shrink last year.

I would be more worried about running into BBO at the footy. I think between him and I a lot of opposition supporters perception of us dee supporters have changed.

One day WYL, one day.

I'll have to disguise myself as a dignitary of some sort. Then when the real stuff starts I'll throw my top hat like a frisby and show those buttoned down dreary old cob webs how to support the boys with some gusto.

Does the MCC section have a naughty corner?

I reckon you and Biffo should have a beer together, Sloon. But give us warning of when and where.

Was escorted from the ground during Queens Bday a few years back. It was when Daniel Bell nearly got his head taken off by that gutless sniper Ben Johnson. There were some Pies supporters behind me and they started yelling out at Daniel Bell calling him a softc*ck and to stop faking it and get up etc. I told them to shut up, they swore back at me and one of them spilled a drink on my back/head, so I lost it. Broke one guys jaw, sunk anothers eyeball into the socket, and broke a couple of my own fingers in the process. Filth supporters are just that; Filth. Most d*ckheads who talk sh*t can never back it up, and they need to be taught a lesson so they stop running their mouth. I hope those two never forget that lesson I gave them. Who knew studying Kenpo would pay off
Also lost it after the Adelaide 2002 semi-final. My mates had to calm me down after I threw a bin just outside the G.
Oddly enough, these are the only two times in my life I've gotten legitimately angry. Both caused by footy

Back to the main topic, when I tell people I support Melbourne I am met with either mocking laughter or sympathy. We are a sh*t football club unfortunately. Doesn't mean I don't love my club, but being born in the 80s and still yet to see any success, means the club is seen as weak. Hopefully this new cultural shift moves us forward and we can see some success. Us supporters deserve it more than anyone.

Wow. I was going to give you some stick for your predictions about Bate in the 2007 "young gun" thread, but I think maybe I'll just shut up..

I've been to witness to a few fisty cuffs at the footy but never involved in one. I distinctly remember one that was much like your good self - one Hawthorn fan taking on three Pies fans, and winning. Levelled the lot of them.

Nice work Lord Travis Bickle.

Next time you want to fight, please wear rubber gloves.

You dont know what disease you might pickup.

Or better still, smuggle in a blunt object.

Keep up the violence!

Peace.

I remember being at this game and hearing filth supporters doing the same thing when Bell went down. I have no problem with people cheering big hip and shoulders, booing the other team when they do something dirty, and cheering when the opposition stuffs up. I can put up with most of the Melbourne bashing that I hear when I go to the footy; it's a part of the game. I do, however, have a major problem with people cheering when someone gets injured, or people saying that they are "faking" their injury. I commend you for putting those Collingwood supporters in their place....hopefully they now think twice before pulling that $#!T.

Essendon last season, bald bloke sitting 3 rows in front with his mrs was giving us Sh*t from the start then called Watts a private school softy or something rubbish. So we did what any melbourne supporter would do and started hooking into this bloke for his lack of hair, sexual impotence and how his relatively attractive mrs should come sit with some fellas who can at least rock a comb over. As the match went on me and my mates were getting a bit more drunk and continued stirring this fella up, 'not bad for a private school kid' whenever watts got the ball etc etc (watts 3 brownlow votes that game). Eventually the guy took the bait, turned around to say something but realised there was 6 relatively well built 23 year olds staring back at him, he sat straight back down and didnt say a word and was greeted by a chorus of laughter. He left when we went 11 points up in the last to our comments of 'we can see you sneaking out, take your football team with you, your just a suburb of melbourne, leave your mrs here'.

Great night, sucked in essendon scum.

Hoping for a repeat round 2.

The most fired up that I ever got at the footy is when we had 2 drunk eagles [censored] somehow got tickets in the MFC allocated section at subi. One of these pricks was running their mouth big time. Then he spilt his bourbon on a old blokes demons jacket. The old fella politely told this bloke that if he couldn't handle his booze he shouldn't drink. Then the young guy started abusing him and the dees. I snapped, got out of my chair, pushed him back him in his seat and told him to show some respect to his elders, to sit the [censored] back down or [censored] off (amongst other expletives). Probably closest I've ever been to belting someone who hasn't done anything to me directly. After that I had absolutely no enjoyment of the game. Pretty sure we lost by 15 goals......

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
