My input is well informed, well considered and, I dare say, well expressed. It is also typically ignored by people who find it uncomfortable to read and who typically prefer to take out there frustrations on me instead of addressing the issue.

Seriously though, our club has wasted golden opportunities on and off the field over the last 4 years, not to mention a lot of good will from supporters. I don't think this is really a matter for dispute anymore.

That tells me a lot about you, big ego, bruiised and battered when the new administration didn't want you, poor little lamb.

Now you want to take it out on them by sniping wherever possible and showing them that they should never have made an enemy out of you. Well I'm glad they did and I hope we find out just who you are so we never make the mistake of voting for you in any election for any position at the Melbourne Football Club.

The wasted oportunities you talk about must include the hiring of Bailey who for all intents and purposes was a monumental flop as a coach; nice one Paul.

Disagree. Its the same thing as a club not trying its best to win a match.

The reporting seems to be changing the story every each snippett that gets released. The same journalsist has now stated that the "secret" meeting is now revealed began as a a match committee meeting, hardly a secret. Code named the "Vault" which is the name of the shed that all meetings were held in. The meeting was attended by up to 10..now at least 15 people.

Tomorrow she will announced that Jordon McMahon was at the meeting and handed the script on his role in the next weeks match.

Therein lies the problem.

GWS were resting players to preserve bodies so therefore they probably wont win.

MFC were tanking so they rested players

Neeld didnt like the input from some senior players so he dropped them to reserves.

Bailey was tanking because he played the youth before more established senior players.

Neeld played Rivers at CHF and Garland at FF and Bate in the middle to see how they performed there and fill a need.

Bailey play Warnock at CHF and Frawley at full forward and Miller in the middle because he was tanking to get draft picks.

Wrongly so Jnrmac, others are picking and choosing motive. And when you have choice of motive your choices are then subjective.

People like Wilson, Denham, Healey etc have been fed inside or false info for a few years now aimed at destabilising the club

I hope these people are not friends of yours Hazy

People who use a shotgun in a crowded room to target individual enemies end up hurting the club and a lot of innocent and good people more

These people also claim that they have the club's interest at heart

PigzArz - pure personal power agendas

I will be closely watching the next takeover group. I think I know who will be in it

agree. originally there was the snippett of the background of Clothier's assistant investigator hinting at a tip off or made aware of the meeting which they followed up on and interrogated. that seems to be now missing.

The AFL has been investigating this for months, and I do expect findings to be released well before the draft. Can you point me to any rule that gives Melbourne the right to prepare a defence? I doubt they have such a right. As far as a punishment is concerned, the AFL has probably already decided one.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want anything like this to happen, but be assured that the AFL wants this whole matter resolved quickly.

If the MFC is not allowed to prepare a defence to allegations made against them, then the AFL set themselves up for legal ramifications down the track - which they would know. This is not clear cut like salary cap rorting or drug cheating, this is a divisive issue that has far reaching consequences for both club and individual careers, not to mention the precedent it sets for any other alleged club alleged of tanking over the years.

The AFL, including AD, has already said this investigation will not be rushed and will take as long as it needs to be finalised. The pessimists and naysayers on this site never cease to amaze me.

I think as the implications for the other "tanking" clubs of Melbourne being retrospectively investigated and punished sink in, a few other presidents will be having a quite word with the AFL to go easy.

A the risk of getting sidetracked, the financial record of the Gardner board was impressive in the circumstances. Four years of consecutive profits in far more trying circumstances than exist currently without ever resorting to unsustainable donation drives. Despite the forecast lost in his final year (off the back of large increases to football operations spending), he left the club in much better shape than he found it.

By contrast, the current mob have been lurching from disaster to disaster, financially and otherwise. I'm sure I don't need to clog the thread by elaborating on this further.

No, I don't care to elaborate at length in this thread. Why don't you run a couple of forum searches for "sponsorship debacle" and "bloated off field department", that should get you started.

Yep picked it in one; you're either an ex employee or ex director that has a grip with the club and maybe was spurned by the new Board

^^^ you picked it

Got to feel for Old man Viney if our draft picks are taken away.

His first year in charge of recruiting and his years worth of work and research will be down the drain.

Imagine you just found out your years work was now worthless.

Terry Wallace on more than one occassion has said on radio that he failed to make moves in a Richmond game because he knew the Club wanted to draft Cotchin. Surely this is as blatent as it gets.

I am wary of showing any allegiance to Eddie. Unblemished history of doing things in his own club's interest. His comments, while flattering, still infer that the club took advantage of the system to gain a priority pick.

He's essentially saying, "sure, they're guilty, but can ya blame em?"

I doubt Vlad would look kindly on such a defence.

This for many, myself included goes to the crux of the matter. No ones kidding anyone but to effectively selectively remonstrate upon us is plainly unwarranted. Smack us -smack all.. or dont smack anyone. Just avoid the availability of such a course.

He's just covering his own arse, Collingwood did it as well and you can bet, as a consequence, that they'll be worried the MFC, if penalised, will take it to court and drag the other clubs through the mud with them.

There is the mother of all can of worms out there just waiting to be opened and we're just the tip of the ice-berg

I dont care how many players come out and say they felt sick for Bails and could see what was going on - unless Bailey or anyone else in command told the players not to perform then thats about as relevant as me seeing what was going on from the stands and feeling sick for Bails.

However if there is a folder with papers inside from the footy department titled - " how we are going to lose football games to get draft picks" that the AFL now has, then I am worried. I still maintain that there is going to have to be concrete testimony from the FD people saying " we formulated a plan to lose matches and acted on it" before we are in trouble.

Why I am feeling a little quezy is that the papers seem to be indicating that is indeed the case - I do not believe everything I read however that doesnt stop what I read making me feel nervous.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
