Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My thoughts exactly and for those who have no knowledge of the court system, with the seriousness of this matter and the fall out at stake, the media and others can jump up and down all they like but knowing or assuming and being able to prove are two vastly different things.

Any AFL coach who thought an interview or coaches box was pressure, will have a serious wake up call being hammered on the stand by a QC in this matter. Mclean would be taken to the cleaners and his credibility as a witness would be shot to pieces

And what about CC in the box? Not the sharpest tool in the shed either. I think some people have their heads in the sand and will be in for a rude awakening - surely there will be sanctions. Hopefully they are limited to CC and DB. I also hope the AFL investigators are lining up interviews with the Blues coaching panel from 2007 just to be consistent in all this.

It is a grey area, but I would argue that not playing players is worse than playing them out of position. I'd prefer to have Pavlich in a back pocket than sitting in the stands, but that's just my simple view of things.

I agree - would have been much better to just leave players out and say we wanted to try some kids.

They can start with Riley who appeared to be an Honorary Employee of theirs when we played them in the Kruezer Cup.

Heard McLaughlan just before and he said they had already looked in to Carlton and there was no further action there despite Libbs coming out again today.

As well as multiple testimonies, there is evidence in writing. Not sure if Wilson or Clothier have it though.

Thats great and do you not think there will be multiple testimonies from others saying it didn't occur. And I don't care about testimonies they are still open to cross examination in a court of law

The AFL's ability to apply the blow-torch at their convenience is a very disturbing facet of the game's governance. They simply want the Carlton fiasco to go away - too big a kid in the play ground.

IMO they are corrupt to the highest degree.

You'd have to be pretty brave to commit perjury at this point. How could you possibly have any faith in your co-conspirators now?

I don't understand your point.

The original poster was intimating that the AFL gave us pick 4 because we were crap and taking it off us would go against their judgment. It is not that way at all- pick 4 represents our after first round pick compo for Scully. The fact that it is pick 4 is a comment on how crap we were. It wasn't a handout.

I was the original poster. I said that the AFL gave us pick 4 because we are crap in 2012, so to take it off us for what we did in 2009 is discordant with the reason we have it in the first place. So you've agreed with what I've said. Thanks.

It is completely different to rest players as they are not "in any match". But when you turn up on the day - be it as coach, assistant coach or player then you are bound by the rule.

Also I think you will find the teams who rest players don't do it to lose, they still usually win because they do it against weaker sides.

Reading the whole rule carefully, I'd think any coach involved in selecting a deliberately weak team would fall foul of the rule. The match is wider than what happens on the playing day.

Otherwise it is easy to tank - just pick your worst and injured players and tell them to play to win.

edit: add last sentence

Gardner has never deserved the harsh treatment he gets on this forum. Like many people here, he cares deeply for the club and objects strongly to tanking.

It can't have been easy for him to have to watch his successors run the club into the ground.

I don't agree with what you said at all.

Pick 4 wasn't a handout for being crap, it was Scully compo. If we weren't crap it still would have been attatched to our first round pick.

It wasn't a handout, it was compensation. How is that not clear? Anyway it's a non issue.

Whoever organised this "vault" bulltish is going to find themselves our of a career. Good. Incompetance such as this should not go unpunished.

Now the truly interesting aspect of this... despite the article, its topic and focus etc ...is where it is located. Its on the AFL site. Compare this to the truck load of bile over at fairfax and the fiswrapping at the HUN.

Its a different take,,, different positioning. Interesting

I don't care what heads roll as long as we aren't penalized with the loss of draft picks. I have a feeling the AFL are on the same page bezlebub; they recognize something has to be done about this and penalizing us as a club opens up too many ramifications. Punishing an individual or individuals satisfies their need for atonement without a long drawn out sordid affair.

Who is going to get the chop? Don't care.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
