Is Lucas' future cooked?

No wonder Carlton did so sh$t this year with BP as their opposition analyst.

Was probably telling Ratten that we would be playing Cook at CHF and that Eddie Bettes should play on him.

You he would have been half right EB would have toweled him up

Am I right in that he adds (if only in a minor way ) to the overall FA equation ?

We don't get any compo from delisted players if that's what you mean?

Apparently not, I think it says in that article, but I have read it elsewhere, players that are delisted are able to become free agents, but the club delisting them gets no compensation.,

Which you would imagine means that we would have tried shopping him around as a trade, no club is interested in 'paying' in the currency of picks or players....

I'm not fussed whether we trade / delist Cook, I don't see it in him personally, but this pisses me off

It reads more like his manager pumping his tyres full of free publicity.

100% guarantee he still looks like a mouse and plays like one.

So there are 17 others who think he is ordinary.

A rookie spot might be his only chance.

You are correct olisik.

However I think there is more than smoke in this one.

I am finding it hard to be concerned now

Just sits in my mind as the perfect example of the missed opportunities that happened as part of the Bailey and BP era.

we mostly blew 4 years away for very little.

They got stuck in to us didn't they Old?

yes RobbieF

But you know I rcekon it is all the fault of of our poor culture and lack of development.

If we just keep him another year or two he might make it back to the Casey firsts and perhaps a MFC game in 2014.

It does hurt a bit, but the picks between 12 and 33 (Howe) aren't brimming with superstars, particularly of the KPF mould, Darling aside (who everyone else passed on as well).

We got T Mac at 53, so to me that almost evens it out.

Sorry to disagree P_Man

But I reckon when the players picked at 13, 14 and 15 have all played double digit games and our number 12 pick struggles to hold his place in the Casey seniors

Let alone score a MFc game when had a long list of injuries and no forwards to the point we were playing Rivers Forward

Then we have an epic fail on our hands, no amount of selections after that makes up for it.

DB and BP took a big gamble and it failed in the largest possible way.

I am not having a go at you but I get very tired of the excuse 17 other teams passed on JD.

I think the more appropriate thing is 11 other clubs thought Cook was not a round 1 selection

I don't disagree OD. It was a bad one, there's no doubting that. My only point was I don't look at the list of players taken afterward and see alot standouts. At a glance, Smedts, Atley, Isaac Smith, Cripps and Darling are probably the pick of the litter. It sucks, but it could've been worse.

If he didn't come up to your expectation fair enough....But never call a player at the Melb Footy club a "maggot"....Get over yourself....He is a young man who has struggled...but a :maggot....Jezzz....

Calling a Melbourne player a maggot on this board not only breaks the code of conduct but is a weak and pathetic act. You need to think carefully before you write as what you have delivered is offensive and much more.

Yes true, I'm sorry if I offended anyone and maggot was a bit too far. I did get a little carried away directly after reading the article to hear he is now desperate to prove the club wrong by finally working very hard to gain 3 kg in the off season, although thinking this dedication should of been shown at the start of the year. I will be more than happy to delete the post.

EDIT: It also grinds my gears to think it was this club that gave him his first opportunity, knowing they have given him every chance to succeed, paid him a decent wage when yet he never really delivered. Even at Casey.

Good reply ignition.

We all make errors it is not always easy to admit them.

Hang in there.

IMO he may of found the switch from junior footy to senior footy very difficult. He is still a young man who is still developing. I think there is hope for him still. I hope we keep him, however that seems unlikely... he is showing the dedication now that will make him an afl player and I for one am happy for him.

So he's put 3kgs - oooh, let's denigrate him for working hard. FFS he came as a 76Kg 196 cm kid. So he's put 14kgs on in 2 years. So 3kg is not so strange in the scheme of things an d does not indicate either an increase or decrease of desire to play AFL.

I believe his delisting will depend on our trading in a tall or two.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
