Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If Goddard is worth 800k a year as a free agent and Tippett is about the same then buddy is worth 1.5 million a year. We would have to cut Dunn, bate, bail and Morton to fit him in our salary cap. GET HIM!

What Fun

If only we could devote as much time into actually winning

by analysing the talent and capabilities of our own players and how to support them to produce an effort that would increase their value and the teams results and the clubs position so that we could become a club that players wanted to come to and stay at just like Buddy.

Or something???????

Those who think that there's no possibility of snagging Buddy need to think again.

Anyone watched one of ESPN's "30 for 30" documentaries about Wayne Gretzky - the greatest ever ice hockey player?

The LA Kings owner jokingly discussed a trade with the Edmonton Oilers (Gretzky's team) owner at a dinner party. They laughed it off at the time, but a few months, $15 million, 4 draft picks and a couple player later he was in an LA guernsey.

Point is, even for a guy like Buddy who is the heart and soul of Hawthorn - a trade is possible.

5mill over 5 years. Make a play, see what happens.

You'd have to front load any Buddy play. He'd need $2 million in the first year to move on from the Hawks.

the MFC need 1-3 marquee players over the next few years just like the franchaise clubs. Just a fact.

If we could entice a Buddy Franklin with a front loaded contract to the club for 3-4 years it would be superb.

Because a jouno says it doesn't make it right. According to the club we made no offer.

this could be true, but i wouldn't believe everything clubs say either.

just repeating what i had heard, which is what this is all about in the first place.

Buddy wants to finish his career with the Demons.

He definitely will not finish with the Hawks.

Take it as gospel. The club is aware of this.

Keep it quiet. I may have to delete this post very soon.

Hahaha TEX!

Money like that would cause a fair bit of animosity between the players, it's just too much.

Lazy Sunday surfing the web uncovered something I was not aware of.

http://m.theage.com.au/executive-style/culture/buddy-franklin-talks-footy-and-the-spotlight-20090604-bwew.html

Franklin was a smallish kid, always shorter than his sisters who used to monitor growth spurts on a wall at home in Texta.

And it was due to his size that Franklin was initially rejected by his local junior league. It wasn't until he was 17 and a fully-fledged Melbourne supporter that he sprouted. By then the family had relocated to Perth, where Franklin was attending Wesley College, a school that has cultivated many a burgeoning AFL star.

As a teenager, Franklin played ruck more than forward and he insists he can't remember his biggest haul of goals as a junior. "I'm not too sure, but there were probably a lot of points," he says, poking fun at his goal-kicking accuracy, the only obvious flaw in his game to date.

If we could get him then that would be great. This will be a very interesting year for Buddy especially because he is holding off talks until the end of the year.

Wow, a foward line with Buddy, Clark, Dawe, Pederson etc. Wouldn't that be nice?

I think Franklin is a bad egg "culture" wise. He puts bums on seats and is arguably the best foward in the league but I dunno about off field shenanigans.

I'm a bit each way on buddy. I want the marketing power, memberships and his playing ability. I don't want the constant innuendo that comes with him.

I love the buddy show as we call it but there is just something about him I don't trust. Probably a great bloke but that's just my opinion. If we go after a big name free agent I think we are better of spending money on Daisy

Heard today from a big Hawk fan that Buddy was set to sign until Freo offered to match the Hawk offer ($1.2m pa for four years) PLUS a guaranteed 10 yr role as an indigenous ambassador.

We wouldn't have a hope of landing him

Just saying

If we had enough money in our salary cap I think Franklin, Clarke and Dawes would be a dream team.

But at the end of the day dont think there would be enough room in the salary cap, and from an oppotunity cost perspective I'd much rather secure our midfield...

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
