No, never met him in person, would like to. But his press conferences, interviews and especially his foundation heroes speech consistently disappoint, in terms of lack of engagement, motivation and instilling belief. Hope he proves me wrong for MFC sake, but this bloke worries the hell out of me.

Congratulations, you have honestly wrote some of the most stupid comments that I have ever read on the whole of the demon land forum!

Opinions are opinions, but honestly I don't know what you have been watching!

Sharrod Wellingham wanted to go home, he didn't take interviews from hawthorn, or Sydney either, yet both teams played in the grandfinal? Obviously FD from those clubs have no people skills either!

Irritatingly stupid

The football player community is a fraternity. No player who is worth his salt or believes he is still in the game would come to a club that has humiliated and shat on its playing group to save the skins of the incompetant suits who mismanage this club unless they are allready on the scrap heap. Its not all about money. The word has gone around. The prime draft picks we get will curse their luck.

Looks like the Neeld bashers are having severe withdrawl symptoms - can't cope with all the good news - so have taken to hijacking threads!

This is an amazing thread of truth fiction lies and more damn unknowns.

One minute everyone os blaming Neeld for chasing Dawes saying he is over.

Then someone else pipes up and says they've read a rumor from a mate whose brother goes out with a girl whose brother knows the orange cutte at Melbourne and he's heard Dawes doesn't want to come to us.

No one has any facts.

We don't know the inner workings of all this.

But finally thnaks to Neeld and the current management the club is being dragged into this century.

This is the first time in many years we've actually gone and played with the big boys.

Sadly it seems a lot postes here preferred the days when we were still floundeing around in the backyard while the others were out in the street.

Nor do you it seems, where did you read that?

For those claiming that Dawes has refused to talk to the MFC, this from the article relating to our meeting with Gumbleton:

"Dawes is choosing between three clubs - Melbourne, Western Bulldogs and Carlton - with all three having made presentations and offers in recent days."

Seriously, do you people just make this stuff up to justify your attacks on Neeld?

'Manage Ignore Prefs'

And the nonsense is ignored.

Not surprising. If you don't like what you hear, better get that head in the sand quickly.

Replying to someone who has you on their ignore list - that's pretty funny.

Possibly a better option than inserting it where yours appears to be.

To ignore a fool is to disempower him.

The latest on Neeld, Dawes and Gumbleton...

"Melbourne coach Mark Neeld says he can fit both Collingwood's Chris Dawes and Essendon's Scott Gumbleton in the Demons' attack if they can be persuaded to join the AFL club."

Yes, in the same article I linked to above, Neeld said:

"Leigh Brown (Dawes' former teammate and now Melbourne assistant) and I rolled around to see Dawesy straight away.

... That's really important, so we know what type of player Chris is.

We'd really like to have him at the Melbourne footy club and we'll wait until the end of the weekend, he may or may not be."

Then the Hogan comes along and it will be off to Casey for someone.

These boys will need space to run into.

Jesse White - a lesser player but serves that role perhaps?

Thats the point, we're buying time,,, whilst our young key forwards develop. Williams, fitzpatrick, hogan, +++ etc.

Meanwhile we can 'Hold' our pick 20 for a kid like Hrovat, Stringer? Colcohoun, Towers, etc... We don't have to give up P20, to get what we want to achieve.

Posted

absolutely.... As I've said before, Neeld has no emotional intelligence, and hence no people skills. For such a revered pies assistant coach, both Wellingham and Dawes didn't want to even meet with him...... This bloke really worries me.

I'd say Neelds success at Many clubs, getting the best out of his players to WIN, is a big contradiction to you analysis.

Both? What's going here?

Firstly it'd be ridiculous, we'd be the tallest team in the history of the world for a start. Dawes is leaving the Pies because he cracked the sads about being one of 3 forwards. Not sure why Gumbleton wants a move, but I'd assume similar reasons. So why would we release a statement saying we want both of them, especially when Hogan will step in in '14. Someone will then need a 3rd home.

Not that getting both would ever happen, just seems a silly mistake to make, like trying to hedge our bets, but could turn both of them off.

I doubt that Neeld would be coming out and saying this unless he has sounded them both out about how they would feel about the set-up. Neeld has so far not put a foot wrong, so I have faith in his approach to this one as well.

If this was the actual plan, and we got them both. Mitch would be doing a lot more ruck work I would think. As good as he is in the ruck, he's a power forward and should stay there.

Gents, think about it. MN wouldn't want to ostricise 1 by saying he is simply a contingency plan for the other.

What's he going to say? We really want Chris but if Chris tells us to get nicked, we'll see if Scotty will come play. Taking this attitude may just make Gumby think 'I am only the contingency for those guys. screw em'

I doubt he legitimately believes we have a shot at landing both but would want to play to both of their egos. Smart strategy.

I know its early days but the player of the year is M.Neeld . Im quietly impressed with the way the FD has gone about this period. On field we are rubbish atm but our FD are rollin with the big boys. Shaking a few trees i think. Aggressive but smart play. I have full confidence in the draft/trade decisioon making process for the first time in years

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
