According to a workmate who was with James Sellar on the weekend, he is happy and staying at the Dees. Just saying.

If all we are going to do with Martin and Pick 50 is try and get Pedersen and Ray then they are useful only if they get our intended targets.

Overpayment is irrelevant.

This scenario was for Pederson only.

Was told yesterday that cook could possibly be involved in the trade for pederson. I'm was not told of any details just that cook could be involved.

Would we have to give up #4 with Cook to get pederson then?

Surely other clubs know that they could get Cook in the draft as we are likley to delist him anyway?

I like the fact that he has a very strong pair of hands... great one grab marks!

Herald Sun bloke on Draft Chat can't believe what North is asking for a player they only gave 2 games to. Says they won't play him, but want to play hardball getting rid of him. He was a mature recruit at 25. North at the same time are offering peanuts for Jacobs.

They will end up with a reputation like Essendon.

Pick 49 and steaknives at best. If they won't take it then we must move on. Pedersen is not worth anything more than that.

North are merely trying to guage our desperation levels for the player. Just sit tight until Friday afternoon and if they won't accept the offer, let it go.

North are verging on desperate... Their trade etc hasnt accomplished a hell of a lot really. Just shufflings. They WANT Jacobs. or theyll be exposed in the ruck. Dont beleive anything about 2nd thoughts keeping Pedersen, hes still not THAT answer

Dont blink Melbourne

I'm not sure how a 185cm defender would go in the ruck...

With Goldstein and I suppose the elevated daw to take on duties ..thats their thinking I suppose for covering H Mac.

If ruck insurance is what they are worried about then a straight swap for Martin would be the fairest possible outcome.

Both are excess at their former clubs- both can fill a role at different clubs- logic win.

I really hope we get Pedo.

Hell get the regulatory newbie buzz-cut

Doggies got Koby S for 44 so that makes it hard for Nth to make a case for much more than the 49 now I would think.

This will go down to the wire.

The more I think of it, it feels like we are trying to get Martin to Lions for 33 and maybe we give back a late pick and then 33 to Saints for Ray and a pick back to us, better than our 49, which would go to North for Pedersen. That way, if it happened, we would achieve Ray and Pedersen for Martin and a pick we were never going to use.

The Martin trade would be the hard bit, as the other clubs would do the deals quickly IMO.

Pick 49 for Ray & 58 for Pederson surely. Both can't get a game regularly & are over 26 years old. If Saints & North don't budge then no deal.

Like you I've been toiling over in my mind what would (as opposed to should ) get all this to happen.

If as a starting point we assume the club wants both Pedo and Ray then it had in all likely hood assigned two picks to do this; the oft mentioned 49 and 63 or such. The stumbling point is Nths ignorance of the real market combined with desperately trying to get its own deal for Jacobs done. In simple terms Nth comes up short and wants US to ante up for their empty larder.

I can't see the club falling for that but with the intriduction of a Martin or even Martin+Gysberts trades then we should get a pick somewhat higher but would you use that pick in itself to get Pedo across the line. It does work I suppose ; ray for 33 Pedo for 49 leaving us with 63 and 70 but down a player. The nett for that is ray, Pedersen +63 for the loss of 33,49 and Martin ! I'm not convinced that's value. We aren't likely to even use pick 70 on current tracking.

I'm absolutely intrigued as to how this will,or won't, pan out

Nth don't want a player as much as they want to revalue a pick upwards

A great highlight clip.....but it begs the question: why couldn't he get a regular game at North through 2012?

If it is "just" a personality clash with Scott with no underlying "issue" then Scott is a very immature and inadequate personality for a coach.

The concern to me is that our recruiters must do forensic heavy duty due diligence and see if there is some other underlying defect on Pedersen's part. It is hard to believe given the wraps some seem to have on his footy skills, strengths and abilities that it is just a matter of "team balance" at Norf that leaves him at VFL for most of the season.
