WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN

We should keep 3 & 4, there will always be another forward. We will probably get one next year seeing we wont finish that high.

I wish that were true. Considering we've had only a couple of really good forwards over my time following the Demons (since 1987) I think they're a bit harder to come by than you suggest. Decent forwards in my time;

- Bennett

- Jakovich

- Lyon

- Schwarz

- Neitz

- Clark

The only one to have a lasting impacting up forward was Neitz. That is one consistently good, big forward since 1987. I think they're a bit harder to come by than you make out.

Not sure if this has been posted yet... These are Jesse Hogan's draft combine results:

Beep Test: 14.2

3km Time Trial: 10:20

Weight: 97.4kg

FFS Melbourne... pick the kid up! He has midfielder endurance and is built like a brick sh*thouse (still growing too by the sound of it)! He also uses his weight and knows how to get the ball!

Round 1, 2014... Viney, Jones, Trengove, Blease getting the clearance and kicking it long to Clark and Hogan... salivating!

...and so they say is a mad keen Dees man. Grab him asap.

No.. no Pick 13.

Add a player we can afford to the pick 3, no more.

If GWS give it to the doggies or other, we can take Toumpas or Grundy or Wines etc, whoever the GWS leave.

Keep P13 for a class speedy kid.

The age article says we could be parting with pick 3 (and possibly pick 13) for Hogan and pick 20.

my point is that this kid cant be that good that GWS gets 2 pick in this years draft for him, pick 3 should be enough.

That's probably what we were saying when we drafted Molan...and Cook...

Hopefully if we pick up Hogan we will offload Cook for a 2nd/3rd round pick.

I do get where you're coming from but Hogan seems a different prospect to those two.

GC parted with #2 for MD1- so how does #3 & 13 make any sense.

Especially when #3 is the next best available pick.

Can't believe people are still stressing out about hypothetical which will not occur.

Take a chill pill and relax for a bit, enjoy today's win.

Getting Viney into round 2 has restored my faith in this club's ability to be a little shrewd.

I laugh at these preposterous trades where we clearly get screwed. MFCSS still?...

Realise MFC have the whip hand. We have Neeld now. He stikes me as the kind of guy who will not be pushed over.

You don't think there's a possibility these two things could be related?

Deals such as WB picks 5 & 6 for Hogan and pick 20 still trump our pick #3.

Hopefully they do not put it on the table.

Yes, which is why I can't believe after today that people think we are still going to make a great draft mistake.

I guess the important msg to other Demonlander's here is; Relax, we've got this...

Or some words to that affect

Not necessarily- if they have their eye on someone who might be gone by 5.

That wasn't my point anyway- if we get outbid that is one thing- if we try to be the top bidder by bidding everything and the kitchen sink, we lose. Which is the scenario that some people are speculating on (4 and 13) and I am saying that it won't happen.

If they want both pick 3 and 13 I would say "Thats cool, we'll use pick 3 on Toumpas and 13 on Dawes"

I would be happy with Toumpas, Viney and Wines in midfield with Dawes to fill a gap for a few years until we can find the next Hogan which is attainable

It doesn't trump it if GWS have a certain player in mind that they risk losing between pick 2 and 5.

GWS will pretty much just own this draft.

Which is fine. I am happy to wait a year for a gun KPP than waste an early pick on Dawes.

Long term thinking will make us really successful, rather than just mediocre.

I've waited a lifetime for us to not suck, what's another year?

Jeeesus.

According to Emma Quayle, GWS have just picked up St. Kilda's pick 12.

Edit reason: twitter link changed.

Saints get Tom Lee, Claremont forward and picks 24 and 43 for pick 12. Final GWS prelisted trade.

Pick 24....Isnt the pick we had hoped to get?

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
