Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Herald Sun reports Gysberts to be shown the door...Neeld has gone mad!!!

Gees Tex if this is how your feeling in early September I think it's best you lock yourself in a panic room until the end of October.

Gysberts has no physicality and will be pushed aside in our team for the next 2-3 years as our younger bodies develop. At that point he will have had 5 years in the system and probably only added another 15 games. He is a victim of bad choices made before and around him but we can't keep all these under developed, under performing guys and expect to get better. If someone else wants him and we can get a bigger body that helps us get some respect and self belief back then it must be done.

Hold on to your hat mate. You'll see a lot more going down in the next 6 weeks. We haven't even scratched the surface.

This site is slowly growing on me...some of the 10 page drafting threads read like Cheech and Chong but with haircuts and wearing suits but this one...this one is GOLD. More please Tex,its a long off season and Blueys posts are usually terse and quickly digested

Great Passion TEX,

My family and nephews (most were DEES supporters ) noticed many awkward changes and decisions during the year., many tthat you have mentioned.

They refuse to pay and watch the boundary grabbing football and will not accept horrible school boy football. .

They now go and watch the best match available in the round and enjoy great football.

Most of your points are valid, Only those in denial could argue with you.

This club is a MESS

I don't agree with everything the OP said, but geez I'll be very disappointed if Gys has been cut. Has a heap of talent, something we sorely lack in the midfield amongst our current meat and potatoes lineup. It will raise questions about Neeld, as in, has he got the skills to get the best out of players or does he just cut anyone who can't do it by themselves?

It's a 2 way street Stuie, a couple of players who have worked hard to prove critics wrong are Clark and Jones. Does Neeld get credit for getting the best out of them?

Looks like we didn't get value in the Brock trade after all.

Just goes to show, a years a long time in footy.

I personally believe that Brock will only get better aswell - but he left for his reasons.

If Gysberts does leave, we'll get something in return I'd assume.

I expect both Jordie and Cale to be departures and possibly Bennell.

Neeld seems to want ticker and I like his stance.

The real denial lies in those that thought we were travelling OK under the old regime

Jam your 8.5 wins last year, the club was already a mess when Neeld got his hands on it. thank god he at least has the balls to step on toes and take a long term view instead of accepting the odd massacre of non-Victorian teams at the 'G and/or expansion teams as 'progress'

Just a point on Gysberts, his kicking is poor his endurance even poorer. To watch pre-season last year and to have a slow midfielder running in ther last group, alarm bells would have been ringing. We have no idea what goes on in the club, but I know all players would have certain targets they would have to acheive, Gys has been in good enough form at Casey to get a game over the past 2 months, for him not to be getting games has to be about him not hitting his targets. As mentioned watching him at pre-season I reckon his targets would be based around endurance.

Good point, and I agree with that, he has done great things with those guys. I just worry that he'll be cutting a very young player who has a heap of talent but obviously needs some teaching/coaching, when that is his job. What happens in the future? Anyone that needs coaching gets shown the door?

i like your passion Tex but chill. i agree, if gysberts is got rid of then i think there'll be a few of us that turn our heads and start to question Neeld, but we need to sit tight. Ok, if by this time next year we are producing the same shite then Neeld is in strife, especially if he's offloaded players of gysberts quality and picked up rubbish. Melb FC are guilty of drafting errors over the last 5 years and Neeld now have to deal with it, as they say 'a new broom sweeps clean' but i'd def keep gysberts.

So in the same breath as saying the MFC has committed 'drafting errors' you still say you will 'question' Neeld and that you'd 'prefer to keep Gysberts'?

How about you trust the coach who's come from a winning culture, who understands the attributes players must possess to make it at AFL level.

Talent means nothing without the requisite will and commitment to push oneself.

The team had a low fitness base, 2012 was written off and the focus has been to build that base. The boundary footy was needed so as to reduce the heavy scoring against us and to practice a more defensive game.

Just about the thread of the year. Cite a reference, that doesn't exist; toss in a clue like Petterd and superstar in the same sentence and sit back and watch the knickers twist.

Good work Tex (or possibly not).

Not to mention the fact he attempts to pin the blame of drafting Cook over Darling on Neeld and Co.

Rabble of a thread

I'm trying to be optimistic but...

2012 is easily, without a doubt one of the club's worst years ever.

Funny though ... in the long run it may actually turn out to be one of the best.

Finally someone - Neeld - is taking a stand and saying "we're not putting up with this [censored] anymore".

There's a definite change in ethos occurring here.

I think that's a very important point you make Dr D.

I too was excited about Gys in his first few games. But he hasn't developed physically or fittness wise since. A young talented kid like him should be making every effort to build a body and a tank. He has good inside skills and has the ability to find the ball, but his foot skills are average and he doesn't run enough. I'm worried IF he goes that we have not had the ability (under Bailey or Neeld) to develop this kid to anywhere near his potential. He has to want to do it, but is also the FDs job to teach him to do what is required.

I've not seen a link to this yet, and the Hun is hardly gospel truth. Given the hysteria on Land at the moment regarding exits etc, we should take it with a grain until the club confirms it.

It is also important to remember tha Gys IS contracted for 2013, so we are highly unlikely to delist or pay him out. He must be traded to go elsewhere and if Neeld plays hardball (which is what he seems to be), then a trade should be win/win.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
