OK, it's only a still photo but jeez he reminds me of Dusty Martin. Minus tatts.

Yep, Dustin Martin minus the bogan redneck gene.

He would be ready to go if a game was played tomorrow. I think his stats are now ht:188cm, wt:90kg, that's impressive any way you look at it.

Do we go for skill and pace, or do we go for mongrel, tenacity, etc...? Either way we cannot lose. What type we draft this year, we will make a priority to draft the other type next year. Throw in Pederson to cover the loss of Rivers, our KPP's are looking well stocked.

All we would need to worry about would be midfielders and possibly another ruckman.

I'd be happy with the bogan redneck in our team!

Pics can be deceiving I remember one a few years back when watts looked huge. Having said all that pretty happy to get this Young bloke pick 4 looks to be a pretty handy one this year as 2 - 5 all appear to be pretty handy.

IMO he should be our pick 4 selection

I reckon Mark Neeld may agree with you

What do we do if GWS take;

Whitfield

Toumpas

Wines

Do we take Grundy even though we need a midfielder?

If our guys believe he is the best player available when it is our pick then take him. He's 202cm tall and the new ruck rule will suit him to a tee.

He needs a solid, uninterrupted, pre season, if you recall he was running laps with the rehab group for much of the last pre season and didn't get in to the main bunch until very late in the process.

I think he will be very good and I don't think we've seen anywhere the best so far; the difference between him and Gys is that he wants to do the hard yards and Gys doesn't appear to. I hope that Gys will stay and start to get his act together because he could be a valuable member of the side.

I agree he needs a run at it, but nothing tells me he works harder than Gys, apart from Gys being generally unfit and injured this season. Gys gets pin holes now because he was unfit when drfated and not worked on by bailey. I dont know what tappy has done to suggest he is one of the harder trainers at the club?

I hope Tappy can be a Chappy type player and Gysberts a Hayes or pendlebury, my only point being that one is bigger and slips under the radar, the other skinny and was simply unfit under a [censored] FD and is pin hoeld as not owrking hard enough, when it is a system he is brought up and taught within which dictates this to an extent.

Yes i think Gys has the talent, i just dont think we can say he doenst want it, like man yseem to, he has been unfit and injured, which makes it hard to step forward under the new regime.

Thats the problem with out list tho, no mongrel, amongst the other stuff. Hollier than thou. tatts R, OK. Ask Jonesy.

you can surely have mongrel in you without being a bogan mate, it's hardly hollier than thou

I have "bought in" to the Wines/Viney partnership and I am invested emotionally in this duo eventuating.

I will actually be very sad if Wines gets taken before our pick. In my mind it's Viney with his mate kicking arse for us for a decade. Please nobody take him!

Take that photo of him with his muscles down. Stop promoting him let's keep this under wraps!

Tappy and his tattoo free body say "howdy do silly boy"

Wines is too short. Jeremy Howe will jump straight over him and land on his face , maybe O Rourke or Grundy are better options?

Didn't someone just say he was 188cm. That would make him tall for a mid.

I've heard that rumour too - that GWS will skip Grundy and take Whitfield, Toumpas and Wines.

I'd be surprised if they did not select a possible top ruckman in Grundy, even though they recently re-signed Giles. They seem short of quality and quantity in the ruck division atm.

Gee, he must really love World of Warcraft ;-)

martin got his tatts after the ND (I think) so there is still time

Or O'Rourke

Without knowing little about them, I hope not. Based solely on the photos of each I hope we don't take O'Rourke, looks like another Cale Morton waiting to happen. Wiens would suit us to a tee, hopefully GWS take Grundy so we get the choice of Toumpas or Wines.

agreed, if we dont get Toumpas or Wines i'll be disapointed and perplexed.......im talking Lucas Cook perplexed

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
