Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

HF: Dunn, Martin, Green

FF: Garland, Cook, Couch

FOLL: Spencer, Gysberts, Jones

I agree This could be Petrie's first 10 goal haul.

Quite appropriate your name this week

I've lost track of who's injured, who's available and who's where. Getting too hard now to pick the ins and outs now. I know Garland won't be dropped because of one poor (shocking) decision though.

Can't imagine Garland being dropped after one bad game/moment/whatever it was that is causing people to want to drop him.

I'd like to see Sellar back, I thought he was really developing well at CHB before his injury.

I'd also like to see us field a side without Dunn, Bate, Petterd and Morton, but I reckon we have too many injured/missing players to be able to fill all those gaps.

Yes me too Nasher and it is all a bit academic

The only possible difference will be the size of the loss.

Very depressing to have to decide if it will 8, 10, 12 or more goals.

It is more difficult to pinpoint the ins and outs, particularly when there is some listed with 'groin' such as Tapscott and McKenzie. Howe will most likely be suspended - stupid thing to do. Whilst he provides a target to take a mark, his kicking for goal would be a big plus if he improved. (As many Game Day thread posters alluded to ie Clint Bizkit - PS. CB I took that as a positive ;))

I think our backline will have their work cut out for them, unless our mids can step up. North by plenty unfortunately.

I agree with all your "ins" except Cook.

Of course I hold a lot of hope that he'll develop into a superstar. But his form does not anywhere near warrant promotion. Not only could it rock his confidence , but it's a very bad principle to reward seconds players with promotion when they don't deserve it. How do players who've been performing well without promotion feel, when they're leapfrogged like that?(Davis, Williams and Morton all performed way better than Cook.) Really Lucas looked like he could be dropped from Casey, on the revealed form.

Garland's game was at least as bad as the one that saw Morton banished to the VFL never to return. He was absolutely shocking and deserves to be dropped. Edited by Chook

In: Williams Gysberts Watts Tapscott Mckenzie

Out: Howe Magner Petterd Bail MacDonald

Williams from reports is doing well at Casey and we desperately need a forward. I wouldnt mind either him or Cook, I just want someone to friggen kick to!

Gys and Watts are a must

With the outs i just remembered who frustrated me to the point where I was escorted out of the precinct for yelling 'offensive gestures'

Apologies to anyone who was near me

It wasn't as bad as Joel Macdonald's game who is a similar player and is lower down the pecking order.

I wonder if, especially if maybe Sellar is back for KPP defence role, that it is time for Tom McDonald to make a move forward to provide some sort of target??

Just a thought, largely in desperation..

That is fair.

In that case I'd probably be looking at maybe Fitzpatrick then. He's been in good for, and probably deserves another game.

We attack, that's what we do for once this season.

Throw Watts forward, bring Cook in while Greens still around to show him where to run. Kick the ball long and fast to space.

Argue all you like but I bet we wouldnt lose by as much as we might with Neelds game plan.

Assuming 50/50 injuries go our way...

IN: Watts, McKenzie, Cook, Gysberts, Sellar, Morton

OUT: Howe (susp), Magner, Spencer, Strauss, Dunn, Couch

Sellar to go between FF and ruck, and pleeeeeeease put Riv back into the backline! Would prefer Garls up forward.

9-0 vs the Roos since 2007, Dees massively out of form, time to roll the dice with the changes.

I am also losing track of the constant ins and outs due to injury etc... A stable base 18 would be great, wioth changes due to match-ups. Oh well, I can only dream...

OUT:

Howe. Stupid thing to do if he did it.

J MacDonald

One of Petterd or Bail. I would prefer them both to stay in.

IN

from - Gysberts, Tapscott, McKenzie, Watts, Sellar

CONSIDERATIONS

We need to play Dunn down back, freeing Rivers to be third man up over Petrie. Frawley is a great body player (look how he deals with J Reiwoldt) and will not allow Petrie the kind of run at the ball that the Tiges did. But they may go straight for Sellar who has done a reasonable job in this role at times this year.

North are super tough in close so we need Magner, Couch, Jones, McKenzie to match them at stoppages. We need Grimes, Blease, Trengove, and Watts to get plenty of the ball in hand spreading away from the stoppages.

A lot is made of Harvey, but it is Wells we have to tag, and tag heavily. Bail is probably the only one on our list with the pace and grunt to go with him.

Who do we play as our main target inside 50m? Stef Martin? Watts? This is the area in which we will lose the game, if we lose. It is likely that we will match them in inside 50s and score less due to poor hitting up of leading players, or poor forward play by non-natural forwards.

God we are going to get smashed. Their last 3 appearances at Etihad have been comfortable wins over Adelaide, the Saints and Carlton, while we have lost 12 on the trot there - not to mention they have won 5 of the last 6 games in general, losing only to WC by 2 points. We've lost the last 4 by average of 6 goal having played nobody of note. Absolute smashing coming up everyone, perpare yourselves.

My line of thinking too. Let's throw a Hail Mary.

In: Fitzy as a mobile tall forward,Watts,Sellar as a backmen,Mckenzie,Cook (Just for something to make it interesting)

Out: Howe and take you pick from anyone else.

I watched him twice this year at Casey He is currently no where near it. He will lanquish and shrivel on the vine like so many other KPP's MFC has tried

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
