Big strong 'All Australian' CHF's that kick 40+ goals a year don't win you games of football ? Good grief. Thanks for my first laugh of the day.

Then you say we've got Clark, so we don't need another one. Just think how many more flags Hawthorn would have won if they only had Dunstall and not Brereton. And how better off Brisbane would have been if they only had Lynch and not Bradshaw and Brown alongside him. How silly were they ?

Keep the laughs coming Billy.

Wow. A top heavy scenario with Clarke, Watts, Jurrah, Fitzpatrick, Howe & Cloke,... Wadda we sing....wat (Cloke) a Waste of Money!!!!

Take as fact if Boak leaves Port, MFC are absolutely in box seat to take him and are focussed on making this happen.

I believe this to be correct, but since you have had good mail in the past, it gives me even more confidence.

The only thing that worries me is giving up too much.

But even then, I have confidence in the club after their recent track record.

On another note, billy, if Boak has purchased a house in Victoria, surely the exact location of this house might tell a story..?

Whereabouts in Victoria is it?

There's always the chance it's simply an investment or for family.

My read is that if it's around Geelong or Torquay, it's largely meaningless, but if it is in Melbourne it maybe shows his hand.

Good to know I'm in the minority!

I can't honestly be exact in knowing what the postcode is Jose, sorry. I have passed on the information that I was given, and it is from a very reliable source (for this particular topic anyway), up there with the Schwarz/98% type of thing, if you know what I mean. That said, I do have a feeling that the house may have a 32## postcode, which as you said, could mean absolutely bugger all in the scheme of things. Does anyone know where his Mum currently lives? I am told that the house isn't very far from there.

The rest of my original post is choc-full of meaning.

We are only in the box seat if we are willing to give up our first pick.

I'm not sure Boak is worth our first pick.

If we get Viney as a second rounder, maybe we'd be tempted to part with it.

What could the cats possibly trade for Boak?

They would need to give up something like Stringer + there first rounder (Which my guess would be about pick 15)

I said in another post could we trade for boak pass boak on to Geelong and get Motlop? If boak wants to be a cat so bad but Port want our pick not Geelong's we could trade a pick for boak to port and then trade boak to the cats for Motlop. We need a small forward who kicks goals and can play a bit of midfield as well. I know it's a long shot.

Pick 4 for motlop? Hmmm, think I would prefer Toumpas

I accept that you may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but let me clarify my position.

I hold the view that two strong marking key forwards are desirable and certainly far better than one; and I'm also against recruiting Cloke, because the dollars are ridiculous.

Enjoy the rest of your day. You're now a smarter man.

Pick 12 and a player to port for boak who we then pass onto geelong for motlop?

I dont think they would accept pick 12, especially since we publicly said that we were willing to give up pick #4

And we have no quality players to send over to Port. If we dont value them, they wont (So count out Petterd, Bennell, Dunn ect)

I wouldnt mind motlop though.

How about

We give: Pick 4

We get: Motlop and pick 7

Geelong gives: Motlop, Pick 15

Geelong gets: Boak

Port gives: Boak, Pick 7

Port gets: Pick 15 and Pick 4

or are we getting to good of a deal?

Hmmm!

I realized Geelong probably were giving up a bit to much.

Round 2

We give: Pick 4, Pick 12

We get: Motlop and pick 7, and Pick 15

Geelong gives: Motlop, Pick 15

Geelong gets: Boak, Pick 12

Port gives: Boak, Pick 7

Port gets: Pick 15 and Pick 4

lol

You have two teams getting Pick 15 and Geelong gets a pick upgrade for getting a player upgrade...

It's time to give up, because you haven't seen me at my arrogantly dismissive best and I am gearing up right now, and I don't think I am going to get the usual pushback from people when I show it...

Yeah its to hard this, lol, I realized there was flaws in the mix. I was just playing around to see how feasible it would actually be for the sake of whoever suggested it.

In the end I don't think the 3 way is very feasible at all. I would rather use our pick 12 on a Garlett or Kennedy from the draft.

Probably public delaying tactics to try & ease the public pressure so he can still keep playing. I don't believe the games people play in the press.

That's a really interesting point. With FA coming in (and the likely increase in the salary cap) clubs will have more of these sort of situations where it is clear mid season a player is off. How they deal with it - indeed how the whole system deals with it - will be fascinating to watch and has implications or the culture of clubs and the game as a whole.

Do they not play a player and if so do they do that openly or under the guise of an injury.

Do they continue to play them as is the case in most sports (which means a commited player misses the oppoertunity to play and develop)?

How do they manage the tension and conflict that might arise between team mates (as seems to have been the case with Boaks team mates demanding he make the call)?

Do they encourage players to be open and advise the club (their preparedness to do so would obviously be influenced by the answers to the q's above)

Fascinating stuff and unfortunately it will all inevitably become grist for the media mill and we can get used to multiple annual will he or won't he sagas (which the AFL will love because they clearly take the view that media saturation is good for business - witness how they structure the trading periods, fixture announcements, NAB cup etc etc to ensure there is almost 365 day AFL coverage)

This.

And we're most definitely not in the box seat, if Geelong happens to miss the finals, as is a very real possibility at this stage.

That would mean the cats' first pick would be just before our mid-1st rnd compo pick.

All we'd have to beat them then is paying over the odds with an early pick, a convoluted trade (eg. pick 4, pick 38 & Petterd for pick 7 & Boak), and the hope we can entice Boak with a bigger salary (not his priority according to most).

We've said we'd be willing to give up pick #4, and we've said we want Boak, but we haven't said we'd be willing give up pick #4 for Boak.

And unlike the Cats, we won't have to travel to Adelaide this weekend to speak to him..... .

If this were to happen, I know some people have mentioned Petterd when tossing up scenario's, but if you were in Port's position for arguments sake, you'd be after a clearance player in return, don't you think ?

What would the value be for someone like Jordan Gysberts ?

That would be a case of robbing Jordan to pay Port

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
