Seems like forever!

They way it looks forget him for the majority of the next ten games

It's not as simple as cook or martin. Cook can't play as a second ruckman and Stef isn't much of a key forward. If Sellar has to pinch hit in the ruck it takes him away from the key forward he is on. Seller is growing on me but just down back not around the ground. IF gawn was good you could argue to bring cook in but we are down to one ruck. Play cook lose a second ruckman play stef lose a key forward.

I think Stef will get the go this week against the Lions who may be minus Goose Maguire so we could test them for height. But a I would be inclined to give Cook a go seeing as though he seems to have potential so lets see what he's got!!!!!

Introduce Davis or send Rivers/Garland back while Sellar gives Jamar a spell. Theres always options, thats the beauty of our game I guess.

I think Martin needs to be given an extended run in the side to see if he can cut it once and for all. He has all of the athletic attributes to succeed, and he's been around the club long enough to figure out how to play. Put him in as the forward/second ruck for half a dozen games or more and see if he can make a statement. If not, he may have to be moved on at the end of the season.

When does his contract end? Could he be potential trade bait?

i talked to jurrah the other day and he said ankles good did a running this morning felt good just can't wait too get back out there again

At the moment Neeld is trying to introduce a hardness to the side and I think he'll replace Clark with someone who is hard at the ball and doesn't mind putting their body on the line; if he is going to introduce a youngster it would be more than likely Davis.

Posted

I really think they're taking their time with Cook and I don't see them breaking that course yet. I'd imagine Stef will come in for Clark more out of necessity then form, Sellar has shown himself to be able to play a role in defense but forward he looks slow and a liability.

Eventually Jurrah will get fit again and hopefully come back in, but his role can't be what Mitch was or else he'll flounder like he did last year.

Stef stepped up last year, hopefully he can do it again.

Maybe Davis in and to the backline, McDonald moved forward.

Certainly Martin adds size, skill & ruck attribute to his game.

Or will they blood the youngster in Lucas Cook at full forward.

I think Martin may get the nod ahead but its a good time for Cook to step up.

Thoughts....?

Without clarke as backup ruck to Jamar, I don't think we can not take Martin.

Sellar is useful as a second partime, but if the No 1 Ruck goes down Sellar may not be the answer. Martin IMO is better & bigger, forward than Sellar.

Cook can't ruck.

Cook can't ruck.

Agree. It's as simple as that imo.

I suspect the next couple of training sessions will reveal all ( well...some )

JR did you see him on saturday?

Cook is still a skinny kid who looks average at Casey.

He would get killed by the Lions back line as well as be pushed out of the road by an average size backman.

He would be as imposing as the sea gulls that wander around during the breaks.

If cook is to make it at AFL level he has to do a lot more yet at Casey.

First step would be to put on 20KG.

IMO it is Martin In, there is no one else at present, all the other possibilities are injured or not fit enough for a full game at AFL level.

So it is your Labrador I am afraid

Most of the bodies in the VFL are the same sizes as the AFL.

I though it was mainly skill differences.

I could be wrong though.

Cook = deep end

He could be the New Holland

He has the potential!!!!

At least Holland booted 4 in one game, more than our no.1 KPF draft pick!

Cooky will be fine, I just don't like Martin as a key forward, but if thats whats best for the side then so be it.

I'd rather see Martin at CHB and Tom Mc up forward. I'll leave it for Neeldy, its good he's starting to get some variation.

Anyone here remember a guy called Green? He reckoned on the weekend that he'll be right to go this week. So, I reckon he should come in for Mitch. Green, Rivers, Garland, Sylvia & Davey oughta be able to get the job done between them...

I think Kolt looks like he’s im

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
