Always thought he was a natural centreman.

And please keep Col up forward.

Just said the same thing in the Backline thread.

Grimes in the guts!

Garland might be a match-up issue but Grimes is a centreman, DZ - well said.

Loved him in the centre, his performance in the fourth quarter was outstanding.

He is a very tough and proud competitor.

Love both Cols up forward, and would even love to try Tommy Mac up there when Chipp comes back, then we would be really hard to match up on...he has a huge tank and I believe he is a future centre half forward.

Grimes was great. Would like Strauss back to fill his role in the backline and allow Col "the undertaker" Garland to play forward.

100% agree. If we can ever, get Strauss injury-free we get another backman who can kick really well and this permanently releases Grimes into the middle. Nicholson's game down back also should mean that Grimes should stay in the middle. Grimes' leadership, spreading from the contest and nouse arond the stoppage were great to see and led the way for Moloney, Trengove etc.. to also find form.

I have to be honest, I only noticed Grimes a little bit on Saturday night. Same with Nicholson, and they both were great contributors. I look forward to the replay at 3PM to look out for these guys. Blease was looking very sharp before he went down too.

As well as Strauss I'd be keen to try Davey in the back half again.

It's certainly worth a look. With Watts, Strauss and Davey moving the ball from the back line and hitting targets the rest of the team can spread with greater confidence. It's a bit pie in the sky right now but hopefully things can come together in the future.

There is a glut of quality backmen at the moment. I have seen a few Casey ganes this year and the two best Melbourne listed players were always Davis at centre-half-back and Sheahan at full-back.

Pay attention to his efforts in the last quarter. It was a real captains effort. He definitely stood up when he needed to.

He is a very competitive beast....exactly what we need in the guts.

Agree wholeheartedly. Grimes to the middle should be a permanent thing.

Watts, Nicholson and Blease can play sweepers across HB. Also Bail and Strauss. Grimes' work at the stoppages was great, too great to ignore.

I'd actually like to see Trenners spend some time with matchups down back on the flank, ah la Luke Hodge. It may help his issues this year with his workrate & heavy workloads.

Jack T has the vision & kicking & responsibility to play H/B flank.

I remember him having about 39 touches or something playing midfield in a praccy game at princess park one year. Through injury and some other reasons (Bailey) he never played there again nor has he under Neeld.

He should hopefully play there more now.

We've found new and so far fruitful positions for Watts, Garland and Grimes on the weekend. Good to see.

Starting to take shape...this year is all about finding things out.

Drafted as a centreman and HBF is the easiest position to play - keep him there and let Nicholson do what he seems to be quite good at.

.

I suspect especially this year under Mr Neeld the only permanent thing will be change.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
