Clark deserves about 19 votes though. Amazing effort today.

6. Clark, for crumbing goals, taking pack marks and generally making Leigh Matthews look like a dill.

5. Frawley, for keeping the in-form forward in the competition to 1 goal.

4. Morton, for taking another step forward in his development and proving his critics wrong.

3. Jones, for doing what he always does. Not much needs to be said about him, because he brings it each and every week.

2. Garland, for doing a fairly good job on Steve Johnson (or as every idiot in the media calls him, "Stevie Jay") and giving us a few good inside 50 deliveries in the second half

1. McDonald, for working well in defence and moving up into the wings to provide an option from time to time.

Steve Johnson had a career high 35 disposals and 3 goals. Not the best game Garland ever played. I know he didn't always play on him through the middle but it was just an average performance I thought.

Fair enough, but considering how Johnson ripped us apart last year, 3 goals is fine by me. Garland was used as an attacking option a lot too, and provided some good disposal and run, which I thought we really lacked.

6- Clark (obviously)

5- Jones (workhorse who never stops trying)

4- Frawley (Hawkins was well held)

3- Morton (getting better by the game)

2- McDonald (gaining confidence and doing some good things)

1- Howe (took a few good grabs and played a good second half after a pretty quiet first half)

6.Clark

5.Magner (thought he tried all day)

4 Jones (disposal unfortunately back to some of his old habits)

3. Howe (he's a beauty, just goes for everything..Might need some goal kicking practice. the miss in the third was crucial)

2.McDonald (I was a huge xritic 2 weeks ago, top effort to turn that around)

1.Morton,(getting better every week)

6. Clark

5. Morton (always went hard - which is an odd thing to say)

4. Bartram (thought he was tough yet again)

3. Jones (Just brilliant)

2. Frawley

1. McDonald

6. Clark - Excellent game. Workrate, marking and leadership exactly what we needed. But for a couple of poor decisions and missed set shots, it could have been an outstanding came.

5. Frawley - Didn't give Hawkins an inch all day. Generally held his own despite the frequency of the Geelong F50 entries.

4. Jones - Gave his usual 100%.

3. Morton - Getting better. His best contribution for at least 2 years imo.

2. McDonald - Very good game for a boy against men. A terrific KPP prospect when he gains experience and a bit more size.

1. Howe - In and out of the game, but did enough nice things to earn one vote from me ..... plus there wasn't a lot of competition from his team mates imo.

6 - Clark (Just imagine where we'd now be without him)

5 - Morton (Again, hard to watch me typing this but I thought he did a lot of very good things today)

4 - Frawley ( In spite of some probs with his disposals, did the job on Hawkins)

Don't really think anyone else stood out beyond just doing their job.

Steve Johnson smashed us?? 35 touches and 3 goals..... Terrible call!!!

I learnt a lot today. You can either win a one on one or you cant so your team will only kick to you if you can. Therefore ,if you cannot ,you are a net deficit.

Because Garland is solely responsible for all the supply Johnson got. I really thought Garland's attacking game was fairly good.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. I think Kolt looks like he’s im

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
